An End To Scottish Dictates? Make A Difference...

"We need to have an arrangement whereby the regions, and Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland, are better represented in the House of Lords".

That was the well-known Scottish dictator Lord Falconer (the man who said that England CANNOT have its own parliament) speaking in April this year as part of a plan to get even more Scottish MPs into the House of Lords. If Britain is a Union of four nations, which one is missing from his list and what words has he substituted?

Full marks if you answered "England" and "the regions".

The North East of England was granted a referendum on whether it should become a region a couple of years ago, and 78% voted "NO". So, New Labour denied everybody else in England a say, and increased the powers of the unelected regional assemblies. Now corruption and devious doings flourish as local councillors and some MPs try to create "city regions" across the nation. Sorry. I mean regions.

The aim is always the same. The abolition of England and fast bucks corruptly earned for many of those involved.

Our Prime Minister-in waiting, Gordon Brown, was the first to wipe England from the political vocabulary of the UK when he coined the phrase "nations and regions". In accordance with his Imperialist Scottish nature, he did not consult anybody in England before so doing.

So the largest and most cosmopolitan nation of the UK, every bit as historic as its neighbouring nations, is dissolved and dictated to by a political elite representing eight million voters - the people of Scotland and Wales.

YOU WILL HAVE FOUNDATION HOSPITALS AND TOP UP FEES.

YOU WILL SOMETIMES BE RULED BY MPS WHO ARE NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO YOU (e.g. MPs representing Scottish constituencies).

YOU WILL HAVE LOWER PUBLIC SPENDING AND SUBSIDISE THE UK NATIONS.

YOU WILL HAVE NEW NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS AND WE WILL CRUSH LOCAL AUTHORITIES' RIGHT TO BLOCK THEM.

WE WILL CHANGE THE MARITIME BOUNDARY SO THAT SCOTLAND CAN HAVE YOUR SHARE OF THE NORTH SEA OIL.

YOU WILL DO AS WE SAY. WE ARE THE NATIONS. YOU ARE THE REGIONS.

England abolished is a tragedy for all living in that former nation and the process is being carried out AT THE BEHEST OF LITTLE SCOTLANDERS AND LITTLE WALESIANS, with the aid of so-called English MPs, happy to ride the gravy train, with ABSOLUTELY NO LOYALTY TO THE PEOPLE THEY APPARENTLY SERVE.

Sorry to shout.

What can you do?

Join the CEP.

This is from Necessary Words, poems by Raymond Tong:

I let it happen
- me and a few million others.
Although I was aware
Of the motives involved
and knew what was intended
I did nothing to prevent it.
I uttered not a word of protest,
but turned my back on what I saw
and went off muttering to myself
that one only lives once,
that I had a living to earn,
and besides there was nothing
I could do about it.

When it comes to restoring democratic rule to England, you can do something. Join the CEP. You can be an active member if you so desire, or not. It will not make impossible demands on your time. But whether you are an inactive or active member, you will be doing something; you will be taking part in an historic campaign to rid England of the Imerialist Scottish elite currently ruling our lives.

Don't just think about. Please act. Within a few minutes you can make a meaningful contribution to the struggle to bring democratic rule back to our country. The CEP is open to ALL citizens of England.

UPDATE 1

Mike from Blackpool:

What about those Raj types who are elected by English voters?

If you're talking about Tony Blair, John Prescott, etc, then I confess myself hornswozzled.

Blair led the way, held the door open and set the ball rolling for the colonisation of England by Scotland - with a little assistance from Wales.

I have no respect for the intellect of those in Blair's constituency who continue to vote for him. They are foolish, stuck in the past. The post-yuppie policies of Blair's government do not benefit them. And what about those who vote in John Prescott? Or Malcolm Rifkind, representing an English constituency but with Scotland's interests always in mind?

But they are elected by English voters. So we must wear it.

A large number of voters, particularly in the North of England, are "Tardis types" - still living in the 1960s or '70s when Labour represented the Working Man and the Tories represented The Nobs.

It can be hard to keep up with the changes (New Labour now seems so New Thatcher), and a lot of people don't. Add to that the "Why vote? They're all the same" factor and the three hundred years of the "Think British" brainwashing factor, and we've got problems.

If you then add to all that the gerrymandering, spin and corruption of the Blair Government, it looks like we're trapped.

Soon, our PM won't even represent an English constituency.

But then perhaps even our "Tardis types" will start to awake?

UPDATE 2:

Sylv from Salford tells me off:

Why do you say there are "Tardis types" particularly in the North of England? The South still tends to vote Tory. Voting loyalties tend to go deep and can take a while to change.

I certainly meant no offence, Sylv. I think the majority of people who vote Tory do so because Tory policies still suit them in the modern day. I think traditional Labour voters have been sold up the river by New Labour. The party they support actually no longer exists. Many don't know, or at least don't know the extent of, New Labour's change of ethos and resultant treachery to their traditional voters. I used to be a Labour supporter and I feel the loss of that political party quite badly.

I know the world has changed, I know Old Labour needed to move on, but there is no excuse for New Labour.

Sainsburys - Another Anti-England Supermarket...

When it comes to anti-England product packaging, Tesco can't be beat. But Sainsburys doesn't lag far behind. Remember the stew pack Drew and Fiona complained to them about with ingredients from such exotic places as "Shrops, UK" and "Fife, Scotland"?

Is the Union Flag now becoming more prevalent on packaging for English goods at Sainsburys? Today, I saw an awful lot of Union Flags glaring at me from the fruit and vegetable displays. The flag of oppression, I thought, cowering slightly. I don't remember seeing so many in Sainsburys in the past...

I haven't seen a Scottish flag so far, but what is the packaging system at Sainsburys stores in Scotland, I wonder?

At my local Sainsburys today I decided to buy a nice big bottle of fancy yuppie water for a treat. But I didn't. The shop only stocked Scottish, French and Italian bottled water. You would have thought that there would have been at least one English line.

But then Sainsburys has no loyalty to England. The only time it acknowledges our country is when it want to makes a fast buck out of football.

I left the store, empty handed.

Comfortingly, on my local market, there was a lot of stuff labelled "English" - and most of it was cheaper than Sainsburys!

Sainsburys, like Tesco, can go and take a running jump off its anti-English merchandise.

Jack Straw - Rewriting History...

Here's a bit of Jack Straw's recent speech to the Hansard Society - with a few interjections from yours truly...

I'm in the solid, Mr Straw in the italics...

Let us be clear. The United Kingdom – Great Britain and Northern Ireland – is a union which works to the equal benefit of all four nations of the union.

How can that be? England has no nationally representative bodies and is being broken up into "regions", despite the North East, the only area allowed a referendum, massively voting "NO" to that "proposal". Do you know Gordon Brown, John Prescott and Ruth Kelly, Mr Straw?

The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. But the other three nations have not done England a favour by joining the union. Historically, England called the shots to achieve a union because the union was seen as a way, amongst others things, of amplifying England’s power worldwide.

Hmmm... But Scotland wanted to expand outwards too, didn't it? It had already failed once. And according to the BBC's Scotland's Empire, the Scots were disproportionately active in the Empire. Scotland also retained much of its own civic identity post-Union, its law and education system, etc. Did England really "call the shots"? Surely England submerged itself in the Union most of all the UK nations? Why try to rewrite history and present England in an unfavourable light, Mr Straw?

And the reverse would certainly be true. A broken-up United Kingdom would not be in the interests of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, but especially not England.

Why? England is currently allowed no official existence, we do not have equal representation, we live with the Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question. The Union is being run for a racist elite. Everything works against the interests of the people of England.

Our voting power in the European Union would diminish.

Whose? England has no voting power as a nation in the European Union. It does not exist.

We’d slip down in the world league GDP tables. Our case for staying in the G8 would diminish and there could easily be an assault on our permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

Oh please, stop being silly.

No wonder that Philip Stephens of the Financial Times described Mr Cameron’s proposals as a “reckless preference for political gimmickry”. Reckless they are. Unworkable and irresponsible too.

There we agree. The only way to restore democracy to England is the establishment of an English Parliament.

Mr Straw certainly doesn't like England or the people of this country. Remember when he spouted off about how we'd subdued the other UK nations and what a "propensity for violence" we have? It's all
here.

One or two other parts of the speech are illuminating. For instance, Mr Straw reveals himself as part of that self-loving 1960s youth elite - declaring it the decade which saw the start of the breakdown of the class system in this country. Weren't the origins of that actually in the social changes generated by two World Wars and felt even more greatly during the yuppie ("money, not breeding") revolution of the 1980s? Of course not!

Jack Straw believes that Scottish MPs should be able to foist laws onto England - and that Tony Blair is right to use them as lobby fodder.

Jack Straw believes that Scotland can produce laws discriminating against people from England who wish to study there.

Jack Straw believes that people in England should have lower standards of care and poorer public services - and have to pay for things that are free elsewhere.

Jack Straw is a self-serving traitor. Pure and simple. He values his career above the well-being of his constituents or the democratic rights of his fellow country people.

UPDATE...

Slyv from Salford...

Jack Straw may present as being mild mannered and self-effacing, but his mind is fast and devious and he has spent so much time with his head stuck up Tony Blair's arse he now has a permanently brown neck.

UPDATE...

Jack Straw is a liar and twister of the first order. This is no surprise. He really is beneath contempt. Keep drawing the big, fat salary, Jack!

Tesco - Backing Scottish and Welsh Anti-English Bigotry?

Alfie over at Waking Hereward has a fascinating theory about the reason for Tesco refusing to display the England flag on English produce. Is the supermarket giant simply pandering to anti-English bigots in Scotland and Wales? Does Tesco believe that products clearly marked with an English flag in Tesco stores in Scotland and Wales would not sell?

So, to conclude with my theory, the only reason Tesco do not have an English flag on their English produce is to solve their perceived belief that to do so would inflame the in-built bigoted beliefs of their Scottish and Welsh customers.

here.

I wouldn't be at all surprised. After all, the UK Parliament goes so far as to sacrifice democratic rule in England to pander to the Scottish and Welsh. Like Tesco, it won't acknowledge England exists.

I have a suggestion...

If profits drop enough in England, Tesco may be forced to rethink its bigot-induced policy. So...

DON'T BUY AT TESCO!

The very idea of being faced with, and having to choose between, their "Scottish" or "British" goods makes me want to vomit...

COME ON, ENGLAND!

ANY STORE BUT TESCO!

UPDATE...

Greg from Cumbria...

I bet Tesco have carried out market research in Scotland and Wales and found that a lot of racist swine there won't buy products emblazoned with the English flag. I'd bet money on it!

What Tesco haven't bargained on are the affects of devolution and demands for fair play from England. Personally, I think that the flag concept is bloody pathetic anyway - the world is supposed to be binding closer together - and Tesco sticks pratty little flag motifs on everything! There's even an Italian flag on their pasta!

But if Tesco IS going to "go" with this idea, then England must not be discriminated against. The sight of that Scottish saltire has driven me from Tescos and I will not return until it is balanced by an equal display of St George's flags.

Want to lose a very large number of customers, Mr Tesco?

UPDATE 2 - 15/7/2006

ENGLISH DEMOCRATS ISSUE PRESS RELEASE...

Robin Tilbrook, Chairman of the English Democrats said that:- "Hundreds of our members have written to Tesco and received a similar reply. We argue that each response is a breach of the Race Relations Act which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of Nationality and under the Act each incident of discrimination gives rise to a claim of £8,000. I say that if enough English people claim the compensation they could be entitled to from Tesco, the English could easily turn Tesco’s over £2bn of profits to an over £2bn of loss for next year. We are calling for all volunteers to claim from Tesco and anyone interested in being helped make a claim should contact enquiries@englishdemocrats.or.uk, or write to:- PO Box 1066, Norwich, NR14 6ZJ. Tel: 01277 896000.

Get involved! Read the full story here.

UPDATE 3...

Oh come on, we musn't be churlish. Or "cynical". Or "un-British". Or "unpatriotic" - to quote recent comments by various NuLabour MPs. Let's be good little regions and tug our forelocks to our proud, historic masters in the proud, historic nations of Scotland and Wales.

Cor, how's that for sarcasm, Chris?!

Sarcasm? I didn't detect any, Darleen. Seems to me your e-mail is a straightforward account of what is expected of us by Tesco, the UK Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly, old Uncle Tom McCobbley and all.

Drew and Fiona:

Tesco did dip their toe in the English pond around the time of the first Cross of St George frenzy we believe (4+ years ago). We then bought some spuds with a St George's flag on. It was a short-lived experiment. Since then, we haven't seen any. The last time we visited a Tesco the displays of potatoes were dominated by bags marked with the Scottish flag (these were particularly prominent) and the Union Jack. Not an English-marked bag to be seen.

Needless to say, we'd simply visited the store for an update on the flag situation - not to make any purchases!

UPDATE 4...

Sue Campbell again...

There's also the fact that if Tescos treated England fairly and gave English shoppers the option of buying openly English produce, they might very well prefer it to the Scotch produce currently flooding Tescos stores in England. Tesco wouldn't want to cut Scottish food producers' profits, would it, even though it doesn't give a sh** about English?

This is all for the convenience of Little Scotlanders and Little Walesians - aka a bunch of anti-English racists.

TESCO HATES ENGLAND!

From the old CEP Cambs Blog...

The England Project highlights the continuing struggle to get Tesco to recognise England and afford English shoppers the same courtesy as that extended to shoppers in Scotland and Wales - produce clearly marked with the national flag. Tesco, whilst drawing the bulk of its profits from shoppers in England, prefer to ignore the country's existence, submerging it in the Union flag.

Below, is an old post from the CEP Cambs blog, run by Drew & Fiona, who locked horns with Tescos (and Sainsburys) several times.

The Tesco situation has resulted in some loss of custom for the store. At least six people I know no longer shop there. There must be others.

Spread the word - TESCO HATES ENGLAND! Sounds a bit tacky and OTT? Granted, but it appears to be true...

The struggle continues... Here's the old CEP Cambs post...

How can Tesco justify emblazoning their product packaging with a multitude of national flags, including the Scottish Saltire and the Welsh Dragon, but never the English Cross of St George?

We wrote to Tesco in Newmarket Road, Cambridge, last August and are still awaiting a reply. Mrs Scott wrote to Tesco in Yarrow Road, Cambridge, in December 2004 and received the reply featured above.

1) No English Produce - We source our ranges through the EU which enables us to get the best quality stock at the best prices.

"It seemed rather insulting to English farmers and manufacturers really," Mrs Scott told us. "It really is disloyal."

Mrs Wilson of Cambridge, commented: "Of course, they do supply English produce, they just won't label it as such - perhaps at the behest of the EU, but I'm sure that Tesco needn't obey dictates from there if it didn't want. The best quality produce you can buy is English and is available at your local markets, and at a much cheaper price than Tesco's in my experience!"

UPDATE...

Dave from Essex...

Something's absolutely rotten about Tesco's attitude. I reckon the store does hate England. There'll be a clique of bigoted Scots or PC English trendies at the root of this. We have a Tesco right on our doorstep, just perfect for us to use. But we wouldn't be seen dead in it whilst they see fit to discriminate against our country.

Sue Campbell...

Love the blunt heading, Chris! Right on - Tesco is a a git of a supermarket chain, anti-English to the max!

Wotcha, Sue. Yeah, the heading is a bit strident, isn't it? I just feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall at times - and it makes me want to shout loud!

Blair Government Forces Nuclear Power Plants on to England - Scotland gets off Scot Free...

Horror in 1986 (click on image for larger view). Twenty years on, Blair's Government plans to impose a new generation of nuclear power stations on England. And take away local authorities' right to object.

From today's
Scotsman:

Nuclear power is the future, says Blair - but not in Scotland

JAMES KIRKUP POLITICAL EDITOR

Key quote " welcome the emphasis the review puts on renewables. Scotland has vast potential to exploit energy sources like marine and wind power," he said. " I have no doubt Scotland's most important contribution to the UK's energy future can and will be through renewables." - Jack McConnell

Story in full

TONY Blair yesterday paved the way for a new generation of nuclear power stations - but only in England.

Effectively formalising a cross-Border energy divide, the government's long-awaited Energy Review yesterday confirmed expectations that ministers have dropped previous objections to new nuclear plants and will grant permission for international energy giants to construct up
to ten new reactors south of the Border.

Less than three years after another policy review declared that nuclear power was not a viable option for Britain's future energy needs, yesterday's 215-page study found that nuclear power "is a potentially economic source of electricity" that produces only low levels of carbon dioxide, the gas scientists say leads to global warming.

A new energy pricing regime will be introduced to give nuclear operators a financial edge. Planning rules will also be streamlined to make it harder for campaigners to block new plants.
But the planning changes will apply only south of the Border and Scottish ministers will retain their veto on any new stations in Scotland. That prompted Jack McConnell, the First Minister, to claim last night that the review had cleared the way to a nuclear-free Scotland.

So the England-hating Blair Government has now decided that we're getting a new generation of nuclear power plants. But, according to the Scotsman, "only in England". And new laws will be passed to help block local authorities and campaigners who wish to protest.

But Scotland will not be having any new nuclear power stations. One law for us, another for Blair's homeland.

The inclusion of the picture of the Times front page from 1986, headlining Chernobyl, may seem a little overly dramatic to some. But I make no apologies. I resent the undemocratic way that this is going to be forced upon us, I resent the fact that meaningful protest is going to be made far more difficult and I resent the fact that Scotland, home to the arrogant Raj ruling England, is to get off Scot-free.

This is a very serious matter. Yes, think about Chernobyl. Nuclear power is not an issue where the public or local authorities should be muzzled.

The Scots will be reaping the benefits, but with none of the risks associated (e.g. leukemia pockets) with living close to nuclear power plants.

The Government's actions are once again racist and undemocratic. They depend on voter apathy. But whether you approve of nuclear power or not, I hope that you will join with me in writing to your MPs and others concerned to express your outrage at the way this is being handled. The democratic law for Scotland/dictatorship for England ethos, and the "streamlining" of planning rules to bulldoze over objections from local authorities are another nail in the coffin for democratic rule in England.

Blair and co are simply making the need for an English parliament more and more obvious.

UPDATE...

Stewart Thomas writes:

I've heard that Wales may be getting them as well...

Not sure about that, Stewart. I haven't checked out any Welsh sites.

I would imagine that the Welsh electorate, Rhodri Morgan and co would have opinions on the matter which they would voice through Wales' National Assembly - and that these opinions will be heard and acted on by the UK Government.

UPDATE 2

Sue Campbell pops in...

I thought it was a joke at first. So, the Scottish Raj ruling England will respect Scotland's democratic right to veto nuclear power stations in that country but take away the democratic right of local authorities in England to protest? And dear Mr Darling, an MP representing a Scottish constituency, totally unaccountable to people in England, is overseeing the details.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

And Paul writes...

Blair would say they're safe. So why doesn't his own country, bonny Scotland, want them?

UPDATE 3...

GWG writes...

Don't you think that the use of the Chernobyl "Times" illustration is a little over-the-top? What are you trying to do, terrify people? If we end up with nuke plants in England I think the Raj will have done us a favour. Plenty of lovely electricity to sell when we are independent.

I make no apology for the Chernobyl illustration, GWG. That terrible event occurred twenty years ago. And now the Scottish Raj believes that it can force England to have new nuclear power plants, altering our laws to quash dissent. Memories are very short.

Perhaps we do need nuclear power. Perhaps not.

Three years ago it seemed we didn't.

Many will claim that nuclear power is one of the safest, cleanest forms of energy.

Maybe so.

But when things go wrong, the effects can be absolutely devastating. Let's not forget that.

I believe that this is the final weighty straw which breaks the camel's back. If, after consultation, the electorate in England agrees with the nuclear option, then fine. But we must be consulted. Scottish dictate should not be happening at all - but even by our Imperial Rulers' standards this is definitely one step too far.

On Stage At Westminster: Tony Blair & Mohammad Sarwar - A Lovely Double Act...

From The Gruaniad. Mr Blair speaking in the Commons on EVOEL:

At this point, Mr Blair was spouting delusional nonsense about MPs in the Commons being "equal".

"I think that is an essential part of our constitution and I hope very much the opposition leader will re-think his position on this. It is wholly contrary, not just to the spirit of our constitution, but an utterly irresponsible thing to do or propose."

In what appeared to be a concerted attempt to unsettle Mr Cameron, another Labour question on the issue came up when Mohammad Sarwar - who represents a Glasgow constituency - asked Mr Blair: "May I ask you if it is your intention to make me second class MP representing a second class nation?"

Mr Blair assured him it was not, describing any such move as a "constitutional abortion".

"It would be completely wrong - the fact is our constitution relies on there being one class of MP in this House.

"That is absolutely right and under this government it will always remain so."

Mr Blair said it was "an essential part" of the British constitution that there was only one class of MP. Referring to the "West Lothian question" he said it would be "utterly irresponsible" to limit the voting rights of some MPs.

One class of MP at Westminster? There isn't. There are those who are accountable to their constituents and those who vote on issues affecting the electorate in England who are not. They are the elite. They assist the Government to dictate policy in England - like Top Up Fees and Foundation Hospitals. In both instances, Scottish votes made the crucial difference.

I love the way Scottish MP Mohammed Sarwar stood up, to ask if he was going to be a "second class MP representing a second class nation"? More pottiness.

No, Mr Sarwar, as Mr Blair has made clear, you will still be able to act as lobby fodder for him and help force legislation onto the electorate in England, as you clearly desire to continue doing.

Was Mr Sarwar's intervention rehearsed with dear Tony (after all, all the world's a stage?) or was this simply opportunism? If Sarwar and Blair cannot see the injustice in allowing the West Lothian Question to continue, then neither of them should be in politics.

Meanwhile elsewhere, choice Scottish chip wrapper The Herald reports that David Cameron is "incandescent" with rage at the idea that an MP representing a Scottish constituency should not become PM, whilst Michael Portillo has recommended that England severs all links with Scotland.

The latter works for me. As long as we get the Maritime Boundary between us and Scotland, so recently altered to Scotland's advantage by the Blair Government, renogotiated...

Sue Campbell pays a late night visit...

Recent polls show that the majority of the electorate want something doing about the situation - and the English Parliament option is increasingly favoured. I've just been looking at Iain Dale's blog and according to a new MORI poll support is spiralling. But Mr Blair and Mr Sarwar believe that everything is fine? And Mr Sarwar believes that he will be a "second class MP from a second class nation" if he and other non-representative Scots MPs are stopped from forcing legislation on to England?

I might be thick, but I don't understand that logic at all.

No, I don't either, Sue. And there's all these MPs supposedly representing English constituencies. What the hell are they doing whilst these bizarre exchanges take place?

Thanks for the Iain Dale info.

UPDATE...

Greg from Cumbria...

Mohammad Sarwar asks if Blair is going to turn Scotland into a "second class nation" by removing its Westminster MPs right to vote on issues affecting England.

Scotland already has it own parliament, Mr Sarwar - it has been treated better than any other country on this island - Wales only has an assembly and England has nothing. What do the Scots want exactly so that they don't feel "second class" - their own parliament and a dictatorship in England?

DB writes...

What planet does Blair live on? He must know that the electorate are increasingly unhappy with the undemocratic evil that is Westminster, but he still insists nothing will alter? Have we got news for you, Mr Blair!

You ask what the MPs representing constituencies in England are doing, Chris. Sweet FA is the answer - riding the gravy train and hoping that they don't ever have to do any real work.

A Culturally Preening and Racist "Celtic" Government?

My jottings about Cornwall from May this year - here - have been attracting some attention. Greg from Cumbria writes:

There is a huge difference between the Government's attitude towards English culture and its attitude towards the cultures of Scotland and Wales. Both the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly are encouraged to promote each country's traditional culture, whilst traditional English culture is attacked and swept under the carpet.

I've often wondered about Cornwall and the "Celtic" thing, and thought of the massive differences in the Government's treatment of the so-called "Celtic fringe" and England. Not hard to see that a lot of the figures in power are Scottish or Welsh, or which countries Labour depends upon for its votes! And no wonder Cornwall wants to join this exclusive club!

If it is racist to encourage indigenous culture, and we know that racism is a problem in Scotland and Wales, then surely the Celtic myth should be buried? After all, we've even got the Church of England, headed by a Welshman, talking about getting rid of the Cross of St George (now a popular mainstream symbol of England) and replacing it with the flag of St Alban (very similar to the Scottish flag, meaning that just a small yellow criss-cross will signify England's place in the Union on the new Union flag). St Alban, of course, pre-dated England, so lends to the "British" thing.

Double standards, hypocrisy... a multi-ethnic England given second class treatment and a culturally preening "Celtic fringe" getting the cream.

The Government is racist.

Scottish Parliament Greed - Taking Over The Rivers Till and Tweed...

Shortly to be nodded through the House of Commons is legislation that will give the Scottish Parliament the right to impose Scottish fishing rules, regulations and fines on English people fishing in English stretches of the River Tweed or the entirely English River Till in Northumberland.

Not content with the West Lothian Question and the Barnett Formula, the Scottish Executive is beginning the march over the Border to extend its territory into England and broaden the ethos of undemocratic rule.

The Scotland Office says this is just a "tidying up" exercise.

No - this is undemocratic, the Scottish Executive is Scottish, it exists to represent the electorate in Scotland, is only accountable to the electorate in Scotland, and should have no say in England.

here.

UPDATE...

An e-mail from Mr G. Phillips:

This is what happens what the UK Parliament "represents" England's interests. It doesn't do it. This is a dangerous precedent. Give the Scottish Parliament an inch, and it will take a lot more.

It just goes to show, despite recent news articles about devolution issues, that the crowd in Westminster don't give a fig for democracy in England.

At least the Berwick On Tweed MP has spoken out. Hopefully local people will be making a noise too. Whether this is a slippery slope or a one-off, the Scottish Parliament should have no jurisdiction in England.

Update...

Sylv of Salford is annoyed by this, the latest example of Scottish arrogance in England...

So the Scottish Parliament is extending its remit to England is it? On whose say-so? And why isn't it accountable to the English people, fishing on those English rivers? This is just another example of England being sold up the river (literally, in this case) by the Scottish Raj at Westminster. The Scots and PC dominated UK Government should not be allowed to surrender the democratic rights of English citizens to Scottish dictate. Little Hitlers!

RJ writes:

They do it because they can. The Scots have always been unhappy with the border, and have always wanted what they shouldn't have. Now, in cahoots with the evil Scottish and Welsh MPs controlling Westminster, we see apartheid and dictates, with the Scots and Welsh cracking the whips over the heads of snivelling gravy train riding English MPs and the powerless English electorate.

Look at Peter Hain - digging up cricket pitches to protest at apartheid in 1969, now backing the policy as it is applied to England; look at Tony Blair - the grinning psycho, who enlisted the advice of Mrs Thatcher when he came to power, and then shat all over England; look at Gordon Brown - "British"? Hah - as Scottish as a bowl of haggis - accept haggis was originally Greek, I believe. As with most things, Scottish culture, so jealously guarded, is stolen from elsewhere.

This Scottish and Welsh evil elite must be stopped. Write, phone, wave banners, protest. Give 'em hell!

UPDATE...

7/7/2006

Greg from Cumbria writes...

This is asymmetric devolution in action. England is the rump of the UK, with no one to speak up for it, and Scotland is, in Tony Blair's own words, "a proud, historic nation within the UK". So it gets to coerce and dictate.

Similar to the rivers scandal is the even bigger scandal of the UK Government altering the Maritime Boundary between England and Scotland so that Scotland gets more of the oil. Did England speak up? NO, because it wasn't asked. It was the decision of a Scots dominated UK Government to do something which tremendously benefited Scotland to the detriment of England.

Scotland's Wimbledon Hopes Dashed

Time to stop play,
Not just for today,
Poor old Andy Murray must now go away,
Time to stop play not just for today,
Andy is waving goodbye...

I'm sure there must be many disappointed people in Scotland after Andy Murray was knocked out of Wimbledon yesterday.

Update...

Sue Campbell, a pal of both CEP Cambridgeshire's old blog and this one, writes...

Naughty boy, Chris... mind you, I couldn't hold back a cheer!

I know, I am naughty. It's just that when I read Andy Murray's comments about England and then saw his dinky little Saltire wristbands, I thought: "Well, let him play for Scotland only then." And as I'm not exactly happy with that arrogant, spiteful and dictatorial little country at the moment, I booed him.

Even the sixth form girls who regularly use the same bus as me were talking about Murray being "anti-English" and not "wanting to be British" yesterday. And it takes a lot to drag their attention away from such pressing teenage questions as: "Is my bum too big?" "Should I wear legwarmers or black lycra leggings for the disco, cos '80s is back in fashion?" and, "Do you think Keith Spolton fancies me, cos he was looking at me in maths yesterday? He's not still goin' out with Shanice, is he?"

Today, I also noticed several cars still flying and several houses still adorned with the England flag. Maybe some people are just a bit slow in taking them down after the World Cup, but remember that the flags also appeared earlier this time round (some before St George's Day) and remained up until the World Cup. The longest instance of Cross of St George flag flying I have yet seen.

Awareness of the injustice of asymmetric devolution is spreading. And with the Scots and their parliament taking more and more liberties (as with the English rivers story), it's not before time.

Saturday Nights At The Labour Club...

Do the Scots hate the English?

This is something I have often thought about, being of English/Scottish parentage. My first answer would be "yes, a lot do". This is based on experience of my own family. When I was a kid, Saturday nights at the local Labour Club would often end in bloodshed and wailing police sirens when members of the Glasgow contingent of my family visited. Kids like me were witness to the likes of my Scottish uncle Jimmy, eyes blazing, lurching towards my father or some other innocent regular, fists up, "Come on, you English bastard!"

Now, as my father identified more with the concept of Britishness and saw my Scottish mother and her family as follow Britishers, this puzzled him. Most of the Labour Club's regulars were puzzled. But several of my Scots uncles and a couple of my Scots aunts didn't give a shit about that. On those Saturday nights, accompanied by a soundtrack of naff 70's pop on the juke box, England was the enemy. The assembled regulars, most of whom, like my father, considered themselves British first and foremost, were the enemy.

Saturday night's all right for fighting? Not 'arf, Elton!

I was puzzled by the stream of past English misdeeds spat out by certain of my Scots relatives. And I think I kind of accepted it. Scotland was in victim mode. In England, certain romantic, Victorian ideas about Scots and Scotland still prevailed (the bonny, bonny heather, the wee girl in the tam o' shanter, the strapping Scots Porridge Oats guy tossing his caber). The English certainly seemed to like the Scots; certainly seemed to feel a fraternal bond with them through Britishness that I know was not reciprocated by many Scots, if my own family were anything to go by.

To me, England existed but didn't exist. It was Britain first (I don't remember history lessons ever mentioning England when I was at school in the 1970's) and England second - a vague, shadowy second. Apart from the sports team, the language and the Tourist Board, what was "English"?

Fast forward to now, and Tony Blair has awarded his own nation its own parliament, and England remains locked in the tower of Unionism. Democracy seems dead here - and the hate-filled attitude of the Scots seems to shape much government policy for England.

For me, now, England isn't a vague concept. I have "read up", realise that history is a million shades of grey and the Scots were not lily-white. I realise that the Scots are behind the times anyway in behaving as though England is the England of yore. England is a modern, open-minded country which is being held back by the actions of a petty and vindictive elite. It's the interests of 50 million people being suppressed by the actions of MPs representing 5 million. Scary.

Many Scots still don't like the English, despite devolution. The 7 year old recently attacked for wearing an England shirt; the disabled man dragged from his car for the same offence; the English couple beaten up in Scotland a few months ago.

The World Cup has focussed England's attention on Scottish anti-English racism for perhaps the first time. In sport, England is no longer the vague, shadowy apparition, draped in the Union flag.

One or two Scots have been quick to try and make out that there is a problem with anti-Scottish racism in England. Scotophobia. Oh come on. Over one million Scots live in England. My own dear mother is one and does nothing to hide her Scottishness - yet she is one of the most loved people in our village. When another Scottish couple in our village put up the flags of England's opposing football teams in their windows during the World Cup, and a Saltire, not a window was broken, not a finger nail was chipped.

The English accept the Scots.

Casting around for examples of anti-Scottishness in England, one uncle of mine suggests that the name "Jock" is offensive - perhaps it is. But it is usually a good natured thing. I know several men happy to be "Jock", a Welshman who introduces himself as "Taffy" and an English Scouser who can't stand the nickname. So there you go.

But can "Jock" really be compared to the "Sassanach" and "hun" nicknames bestowed on the English by the Scots?

So, what am I saying? That all Scots hate the English? No, certainly not. This is evident in my own Scots family - there are several members who are reasonable, completely anti about being anti-English, and I admire them. They have swum against a tide of anti-English bigotry all their lives.

At the end of the day, what is happening to England is largely the product of many years of anti-English bigotry in Scotland and Wales. Victim stories passed on from generation-to-generation, fake ethnic snobbery and elitism - so-called "Celt" versus pig dog, mongrel English.

But the English, being all the races and creeds resident in that country, are beginning to wake up, and group together under their own flag. The Cross of St George. So far, it's mainly for sport, but that has also helped to catapult devolution issues further into the spotlight, along with the sterling works of the CEP and EDP.

England is no longer a vague, shadowy notion to me, draped in the Union flag. Years ago I never argued with my Scots uncles. Now I do. The other week, things became so heated with one of them that we still aren't talking. The English answering back can be a shock to the system. Uncle Jimmy even called me a Sassanach.

Never mind. At the end of the day, I feel it's all positive. England's scapegoating for the British Empire, it's abuse by the British State, are all coming to an end. The air is being cleared of an accumulation of centuries of anti-English pollution. We are speaking up.

Update...

Darleen asks:

Is your Scottish uncle really called Jimmy?

I reply:

No, he's called James really - but he's never ever called that!

Caryn Jones writes:

Is it worth all this bad feeling? History is history, and if answering back is going to upset the Scotch so much, is it worth it?

I reply...

As I wrote earlier, I think that the outcome will be positive and that the air will be cleared, which is what has been needed for centuries. But, much more importantly, if the people of England don't speak up, we'll continue to be trampled all over by the Scottish Raj In Westminster and, ever increasingly, the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.

Fair representation for England, in line with Scotland, is an absolute must.

Always the Next Time - If England Still Exists...

Oh well. There's always next time. Personally, I think it would be better if our lads toughened up a bit - came on to the pitch with bubble perms and a display of skilled gobbing, like a match I recently saw from 1980. Well, perhaps not, but I can't help feeling that Beckham and co are a bit on the foppish side - all pouty photo shoots and fat advertising contracts for "Police" sunglasses. What next - Nivea handcream?

Yep, there's always next time. The important thing is to make sure that England still exists next time and has not become "the regions of the UK", bordering on the "proud, historic nations" of Scotland and Wales - New Labour's cherished dream.

Remember, dear readers, England is not just a football team - and England is in trouble. In danger of abolition no less. Of being sent off the pitch forever.

England needs you.

Kevin Butcher of Hampshire Fire Brigade - PC Prig or Anti-English Bigot?

Here we go again. Auntie Beeb has just reported this:

A fire service has banned crews from flying England flags during the World Cup because it is afraid they could offend other nationalities.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the ban has been imposed out of fear that St George's Crosses on the engines could upset some communities.

Fire boss Kevin Butcher said that the fire service had a responsibility to be "inclusive of all nationalities".

But crews said the service had gone too far because of political correctness.

Jim Buck, crew manager at Gosport fire station, said: "I do not think the public would have a problem with the flags as we just want to support our country in the World Cup."

Mr Butcher, who is the brigade's head of operational delivery, sent a memo to all stations in Hampshire advising crews of the ban.

Just who is Kevin Butcher really? A PC prig? An anti-English bigot? For heaven's sake, the Cross of St George has been flying at 10, Downing Street during the World Cup. It is the national flag of England. Is Mr Butcher really telling us that people who choose to live in this country are offended by its national flag and want us to give it up?

The flag is deemed OK to fly above 10 Downing Street, but not on Hampshire fire engines.

Just what IS your game, Mr Butcher?

Update...

I look to John at the England Project as a bit of a voice of sanity when I get stirred up about things, and he has written to Hampshire fire brigade and received this reply. I'm not totally convinced as it does not explain why Kevin Butcher said that the fire service had a duty to be "inclusive of all nationalities" (and therefore not fly England's flag!). But even if this is a whitewash job on the part of the fire service, it's better to offer this reason than to leave Mr Butcher's statement hanging in the air.

Lib Dem Simon Hughes Says... Or Should That Be "Dictates"?

Simon Hughes - in the running for my Creep of the Week Award...

Responding to the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Select Committee report into the 'West Lothian' question, Liberal Democrat Shadow Constitutional Affairs Secretary, Simon Hughes said:

"Liberal Democrats agree that devolution so far is work in progress and unfinished business. Much greater power to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland has been part of our campaign for years. However, we must now concentrate on handing down power to people in England as well. The new constitutional settlement must work not just for England, but the whole of the UK.

"The break-up of the UK is out of the question. By next year we will come forward with proposals for serious devolution in England. There is also a strong case for parliamentary constituencies across the UK mainland to have the same population. We will not let this issue go away."

Oh Simon - why bother stating that the new constitution "must work not just for England but for the whole of the UK"? So far, devolution has persistently worked against England and your party has been quite happy to let it. All we seek is parity with Scotland! Why keep sucking up to those who already have a much better deal elsewhere in the UK? Why not a bit of outrage about the democratic deficit currently levelled against the 50 million people in England?

Why was "much greater power" for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland part of your party's campaign "for years", and England left by the wayside? Why wasn't parity for the UK nations Lib Dem devolution policy from the start? It only is now because the English electorate is starting to question the situation.

So your party's proposals for "serious devolution" in England will be with us "by next year"? Why's that, then? All we need is an English Parliament. Parity with Scotland. Perhaps independence. Perhaps a federal UK.

And the "break up of the UK is out of the question"? Why? Because Simon says? Because the Liberal Democrats say? It's good to know that everything is open to debate in these post-democratic times, and that the electorate is in the driving seat.

Tony "I'm Very English - Here's My Cup To Prove It" Blair Comes Unstuck...

"Why aye man, first class gadgie, that's me. And I'd thank you not to make me choke on ma wee cuppa, Ms. Petch. Och, see you?!"

It was all going so well. Here was our dear PM, Tony "Scotland is a proud, historic nation" Blair, as guest of honour on a BBC Radio Five Live football phone-in. Our Great Leader was merrily spouting a load of crap for the not-exactly-intellectual folk who were allowed through the BBC barbed wire barricades.

Then, suddenly, CEP member Della Petch managed to duck under the search beams and ask a proper question... More here...

Beware Propaganda: We Never Had To Reclaim The Cross Of St George...

I have read a couple of articles recently stating that in the 1990s the English began to reclaim the Cross of St George from the far right. Well, I have a couple of points to make...

1) The Cross of St George was never a symbol of racist groups. I don't even think you could buy that flag in this country. The idea is simply propaganda issued by the Chattering Classes and the New Labour loyals. The racist groups identified with Britain and the Union flag. That flag was the only national flag I ever saw in England in the 1970s and 1980s. And as for the 1960s, take a look at photographs of the country celebrating the 1966 World Cup win. The Union flag was THE flag in England.

2) The return of the St George's flag in the 1990s was simply due to its usage by the national football team, not symptomatic of any "healthier sense of English nationalism" or "reclaiming" of the flag from racist groups. Even if the CoSG had ever actually been the sole preserve of racists, the notion that anything so interesting as its wresting from their evil talons occurred in the smug 1990s is ridiculous. That decade thought itself wonderful without ever lifting a finger to be so - simply because it wasn't the 1980s.

3) After its re-emergence as a sporting emblem, the CoSG became more and more prevalent and more and more relevant as Blair and co discriminated against England at every opportunity, and began the process of dismantling the country into unelected regional assemblies.

And the flag's return all started with the beautiful game. Footie has done us a great favour.

Come on, England. Both on and OFF the pitch.

England Under Threat...

Click on image for larger view.

Everybody that can possibly make it to this meeting please contact Stephen Gash.

For all those that can't, please check out the CEP and English Democrats sites.

Don't just fly the Cross of St George for the football. By the time the next World Cup rolls round, there probably won't be an England - we must act NOW to protect the interests of every English citizen.

It doesn't matter who you are, nor how far back you can trace your various family branches in England. Pre-1066? Post 1066? 1986? 2006? Who cares! "English" is a nationality, not a race and everybody living here permanently is entitled to be English.

This is a call to everybody.

Please get involved.

For democracy's sake.

The England Flag To Be Flown At Downing Street...

What do you know? Apparently, Tony Blair has backtracked and the Cross of St George is to fly from 10 Downing Street when England is playing in the World Cup.

Well, I'm stunned!

I was going to write in my last article on the subject: If Blair ever agrees to the flying of the Cross of St George for any reason, I'll eat the underpants I'm wearing at that moment.

So glad I didn't.

Thanks to
Tommy English for pointing the way to this article by Boris Johnson in the Telegraph, too.

Interesting times.

There's just one thing: win, lose or draw, whatever the outcome of the World Cup for England, the people of this country must continue to campaign for England afterwards.

To campaign for a fair settlement now that democratic devolution has been granted to Wales and Scotland.

England, it must be remembered, has, by contrast, been chopped up into unelected regional assemblies.

We must all campaign for our own national parliament to represent us, the people of England.

Like dear old Scotland.

If not, the abolition of England via New Labour dictate lies just around the corner.

Our ambulance services have been regionalised.

Next our police forces will be.

Then our county councils will be abolished.

Over 1,000 years of history will be abolished as our counties cease to exist.

"She's a lassie from Lancashire"?

Not any more.

In England's place will be nine EU regions, bordering on the far better financed and democratically represented "proud, historic nations" of Scotland and Wales.

This is truth and it's going to happen if the people of England decide to put England to the backs of their minds until the next World Cup.

Don't let it.

There's much more to England than just a football team.

Why Tony Blair won't fly England's flag...

According to Tony Blair's spokesperson, he will not be following UK Culture Minister Tessa Jowell's lead in flying the England flag from his car because of his "particular circumstances".

What are these? Is it because he's Scottish? (yes, he is - you can't deny it!).

Is it because he's PM of the whole of the so-called "UK"? If so, as he's declared his own country, Scotland, a "proud, historic nation," and given it its own parliament, and Wales its own assembly, both with First Ministers avidly supporting those countries' sports teams, the least Blair could do is fill in here and fly the flag for the England.

But no. Obviously, consideration for his own country, as always, comes first. No matter that he's already given Scotland its own parliament and Scots MPs are dictating government policy in England. Blair knows that a minority of his fellow country people will be outraged if he flies England's flag and he doesn't want to upset his own.

And he has no loyalty to us.

Blair won't even wave a little flag for England. Underneath it, lies hatred and contempt for our country. We need our own First Minister. Our own parliament.

The break-up of England, entirely undemocratic "regionalisation" of this country, lies just round the coorner if we're left in the hands of the Nu Labour Project.

PC Trendy Janet Street-Porter, Anglophobe Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and the joys of "Desmond's"...

I have just seen a video of the comedy series, Desmond's, which first hit our screens in January 1989. Ah, nostalgia! I enjoyed this series, which ran until the mid-1990s, the first time round.

Depicting life at a Peckham barber shop run by a West Indian family, headed by Desmond Ambrose and his wife Shirley, and with a predominately black cast, Desmond's spoke of cultural differences not just between black and white characters, but also amongst the blacks only. However, the black and white clasped hands in the opening titles spoke of a greater unity.

In one episode, Shirley's sister, on a visit from the West Indies, questioned Desmond's desire to retire home. He ate fish and chips! Hadn't he became rather "English" (note: not "British"). Desmond's English-born son rapped about being the best - because he came from Peckham!

Desmond's was funny, but often thought provoking. It didn't shy away from issues like racism. But at the back of it was a sense of optimism - of people being people. Of hope.

Compare that to nowadays, with New Labour and its assorted politically correct morons doing all they can to destroy unity with their "multicultural" claptrap. Yes, we must respect each others' cultures, but you cannot have various groups living in a vacuum. There has to be integration too. And why does the indigenous culture of England have to be denigrated by the PC crowd at every opportunity? Morris dancing? "oh dear," (sneer); fish 'n' chips? "I prefer a curry," (sneer) - and so on.

What is it with the PC crowd? We know some PC folk are members of the Scottish Raj, so their stance is self-explanatory. But what about the likes of Janet Street Porter? What motivates her to infer that people flying the St George's flag are oiks? Rank snobbery? Surely not left-over Imperialist guilt? The Empire was British and its flag was the Union flag!

Trevor Phillips, of the Commission for Racial Equality, spoke out a couple of years ago, claiming that the concept of multiculturalism had not worked and was now a thing of the past. The government, terrified at the prospect of any increased unity in England, quickly announced that changes may be made to the CRE.

This was a thinly veiled threat, effectively silencing the organisation, and turning it into a another government propaganda agency, squeaking "Britishness!" or "Multiculturalism!" at every opportunity.

Mr Phillips, who a few years ago described himself as a black Englishman, proud to wear a rose on St George's Day, does not speak out like that nowadays.

Meanwhile, New Labour encourages Scottish and Welsh culture and discriminates against England at every opportunity.

Yes, if you live in England you will endure lower public spending than in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales.

Yes, if you live in England, Tony Blair will appoint people to key English ministries who are not democratically accountable to you.

Yes, if you live in England, New Labour will carve up your country into non-democratic Regional Assemblies, despite the massive "NO" vote in the North East, the only area of the country allowed a referendum. The government will also, for good measure, regionalise your ambulance services and police forces, making both into much larger, distant and more unaccountable services. You won't be consulted, either. You will be fed a load of nonsense that the police forces must regionalise because of the threat of terrorism. But in Scotland police forces are becoming smaller. Surely, we shouldn't be leaving Scotland open to the threat of terrorism?

Or is the "terrorism" claim just another load of clap trap, to force us to have what we do not want at the behest of the Scottish Raj currently ruling England?

If you live in England, New Labour will allow Scottish MPs to overturn the votes of your MPs (as with foundation hospitals and top-up fees) and force legislation on you.

It seems to me that the politically correct ramblings of the likes of Janet Street-Porter, Vince Cable and resident Anglophobe Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, are simply designed to cloud the issues and create hatred and division. Alibhai-Brown is particularly vehement, having elected herself as spokesperson for immigrants to this country. She goes around claiming that they are more comfortable with a "British" than an "English" nationality tag, and slagging England and the English off at every opportunity.

We're to blame for everything - the British Empire, the lot. Alibhai Brown's knowledge of our history is of bog standard, it would seem. She comes across as opinionated but uninformed. An anti-English bigot, in fact. She never attacks the Scottish or Welsh, although the Scots were disproportionately involved in the Empire and a recent BBC show, Scotland's Empire, was certainly no apologists' piece.

Alibhai-Brown hysterically demonises Englishness and England only, because she is a devout coward and knows that the Scottish and Welsh would not tolerate her attacks.

So, no unity for England. And increasingly non-democratic government, too.

Whoever you are, whatever your race, creed or colour, if you are a citizen of England get wise. This abuse by the British state has gone on long enough.

The Commission for Racial Equality - We Don't Have To Answer Your Questions! We Are Accountable Only To The Nu Labour Project...

I can't fault the promptness of the Commission for Racial Equality in replying to the e-mail that Drew and I sent to them on Saturday, which included a link to this WENAP post. But the content of their reply leaves a lot to be desired.

Thank you for your comments which have been duly noted.

If you require further information or assistance please do not hesitate
to contact us.

Regards,

Information and Assistance Centre

So, why can't people in England be English at the library? Why is the CRE ignoring government discrimination (lower public spending, the West Lothian Question, non-representative MPs etc) against the people of England? Why are inclusive Scottish and Welsh civic identities allowed, but not English?

The CRE does not see fit to answer our questions. What an accountable government lapdog... er, sorry, I mean "body" it is!

Apologies. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. But I do love it so.

BBC - The Office Site - Scottish and Welsh bias?

Had a very funny e-mail from Dave in Slough last night - all about the BBC's Office website. Remember that show - Ricky Gervais as David Brent, emotionally needy and all-round pain of an office manager, Peter Purves as Peter Purves, star of a cheesy, 1980s training film, and Ben Bradshaw as somebody in the background who once had his trousers removed?

Excellent. Well, Dave thinks that the BBC's website on the Office theme is great, but the featured map is perhaps evidence of Little Scotlanders and Little Walesians on the design team. Why? Because of the Tartan Bitter "Brewed In Scotland" ashtray featured in the smoking room and the empty Welsh water bottle in Dawn's bin at reception shown above.

Dave suggests that it's highly odd that the only two distinctively British products featured on the map are from the "nations" of the "UK". Couldn't there at least have been some indication of the fact that the show was set in England? A faded "Come On England" sticker on Jamie's computer, for instance?

Don't be silly, Dave - this is the BBC!

Hmmm... I'm not absolutely convinced that this particular incident IS evidence of the BBC's Scottish and Welsh bias (which undoubtedly exists), Dave, but then I'm an innocent and trusting soul.

Who knows?

Anyway, thanks for the e-mail.

The Commission for Racial Equality is Racist!

I am indebted to ELERF for highlighting this article on the Spalding Today site:

'British Other'?... No, I'm English!...

A HOLBEACH woman was outraged after being told she could not call herself English by library workers.

June Booth, whose details have not changed in decades, was asked her ethnic origin when she popped into a Lincolnshire County Council-run library to find out if her card needed renewing.
Having said she was English, Mrs Booth was told she must fit into the category of either "British White" or "British Other". Mrs Booth, of Cedar Drive, said: "I think it's all wrong. I'm not going to have my nationality taken away from me. I don't think it's a small matter - it's being said that there's no England."

When she refused to acknowledge herself as anything other than English, the library worker classed Mrs Booth as "British Other".

She said: "It was ridiculous and embarrassing because other people were there. It seems you can call yourself Scottish, Irish or Welsh but you can't call yourself English. I feel like everything is being taken away from me."

Mrs Booth believes it is something many other people feel strongly about and refuses to allow the matter to be brushed aside.

What really horrifies me is that the article goes on to say that the library form, common to libraries throughout England, uses criteria from the Commission for Racial Equality . Large numbers of people in England consider themselves to be English, but the Commission somehow considers that nationality unfit to be listed. However, the Commission considers "White British" perfectly acceptable. Why should colour come into the equation? Surely that is far more racist than giving all people in England the option of listing themselves as British or English?

Amusingly, the home page of the CRE currently contains a link to a CRE Scotland article (there is no CRE England) on fears that the World Cup could lead to an escalation of anti-English racism. This is ironic, as the CRE routinely practices anti-English racism, as seen in criteria provided for ethnicity listings at libraries across England!

Also on that home page is a link to a completely useless report on how "Britishness" has been portrayed at recent general elections. All this is simply to reinforce the government's brainwashing for the people of England that we must be BRITISH. We must not question devolution. We cannot be English. English is nasty. But the Scottish and Welsh can be Scottish and Welsh.

The Commission for Racial Equality is simply an anti-English government puppet. Much of its current role revolves around supporting the government's unfair devolution settlement, by keeping the people of England divided.

30 years since it was formed, the Commission for Racial Equality is a corrupt department of a corrupt government, dedicated to a racist, elitist cause: the provision of democratic devolution to Scotland and Wales, and the dissolvement of England via regionalisation without consultation.

The effect of this would be: a continuation of lower public spending in England; a continuation of non-representative MPs in key English ministries; a continuation of the West Lothian Question; the possibility of a largely democratically unaccountable Prime Minister in the near future.

The woman who found "English" was not listed as an ethnicity option at her local library and was distressed, matters not a jot. By submerging England and ignoring or demonising the concept of Englishness, the CRE serves the government well. The hope is that, by keeping the concept of "Britain" and "British" to the forefront in England, hopefully not too many people will get wise to this government's dreadful discrimination against every man, woman and child in England.

The corruption of the CRE in its attitude towards England and Englishness is quite a recent thing. A few years, ago Trevor Phillips, the Commission's head, was actually saying how proud he was to be a black Englishman. He was thrilled that it was now accepted to be black and English, and cited an experience he'd had on holiday in France when a Frenchman had referred to him as English. This was featured in the Sun (it may have been the Star or Mirror, but I think not) a few years ago on a St George's Day (I'm almost certain that it was during the Cross of St George frenzy). Sadly, I didn't keep a copy, but anybody who has a Sun newspaper archive should be able to find the article.

Phillips later stated his concern that English children were not fed positive images of themselves compared to the Welsh and Scots. Ominously, the Government then commented that certain changes might be made to the CRE, and from then on the Commission has towed the anti-English line.

The Commission for Racial Equality is an outdated and now highly racist tool of a government determined to prevent an inclusive, English civic identity; determined to prevent the people of England from uniting against the current system of divide, deprive and rule.

Devolution for Scotland and Wales, an undemocratic nightmare for the people of England.

I don't know how CRE staff sleep at night.

Drew and I have e-mailed the CRE, asking for a comment on their anti-English stance. It shall appear on this blog if they condescend to contact us. Why not drop them a line yourself? The E-mail address is info@cre.gov.uk

Oh, and if anybody has a copy of the Trevor Phillips Sun newspaper article, I would really appreciate a scan of it.

The Battle of Trafalgar Commemorative £5 Coin info: The Royal Mint Joins The Push To Airbrush Englishness Out Of Existence...

As we all know, the great and the good - the Prime Minister, the vast majority of MPs, the Guardian, etc, have all decided that "British" is good, "English" is bad.

Gordon Brown, a man of great ambition, makes an exception for our national football team. But he has his reasons.

Why is "British" good, "English" bad? If anything, doesn't "British" smell of ye olde Empire? That's beside the point, badly thought-out and unfair devolution has made the continuation of a "British" civic identity in England essential to New Labour and the repression of "Englishness" is an absolute must.

In the sales info for the Royal Mint Battle of Trafalgar commemorative coin I received this morning (see above), I read that:

The commemorative Trafalgar £5 coin has been struck at the Royal Mint, as have all British circulation coins for the last 1,100 years.

Er, there was no "British" nation and no "British" national currency 1,100 years ago. Shouldn't the blurb actually read "English and then British circulation coins" or some such?

But no, the Royal Mint has decided to join Tony and his cronies in attempting to airbrush England out of existence. Then. Now. Forever.

The Royal Mint's little effort is part of a much bigger drive aimed at ensuring that every man, woman and child in England will continue to think "British", thus sealing their fate as second class UK citizens.

Wakey, wakey!

Blackpool Bans England Emblems From Its Taxis, The Scottish Raj Dictates And It's All Our Own Fault...

Interesting mail from a person apparently called "McCisco"...

I reckon you lot are in a hell of state. You're being ruled by a Scottish Raj - and let's not forget the Welsh contribution - Prescott's assemblies and Hain's love of apartheid. You deserve better. 'Course you do. Here's Blair giving you another unaccountable transport minister and putting his old buddy boy John Reid in as Home Secretary... now how many top jobs are occupied by folks from my little Tartan Acre now?

Blackpool council tells its taxi drivers not to fly the national flag of England, nor even wear clothing with the word "England" or the three lions emblem on.

Yeh, you're in a state. And it's Scotland's fault. Wales' fault. You're victims. Helpless victims.

Well, I beg to differ. I'm not excusing my lot (the "jocks") from making hay and abusing the Union left right and centre since 1997. Yeh, we're undemocratic. Yeh, we stink. But the English just sit around, doing nothing about it!

What is it with your MPs that they do bog all to address the situation? Where's the Opposition? What is it with these taxi drivers that they let the local Council tell them that their national emblems are unsuitable? Unfit?

Yeh, we Scots are dictating to you. But the worst culprits in all this are your own upper and middle classes. It's the English class system which causes Blackpool council to wrinkle its nose at the wearing of England emblems by taxi drivers and dictate that they should not do so. The council would only treat forelock-tugging English peasants in this way - no other cultural group in the country would take it. Or be expected to.

From the taxi drivers comes the odd grumble, but they accept what might even be an illegal ruling.

Meanwhile, your MPs sit on their arses, riding the gravy train and not giving a sh** what it's like for you lot down there on doggy-do street.

Since John Major arrived, the electorate in your country has grown more and more indifferent to what its governments do. Insular. Meanwhile, we "Jocks" and your Polly Toynbee and sparkling-EU-career-aspiring type MPs let you fry.

Sure, I accept that Scotland takes some of the blame. But it would never have been allowed to get this far if the English ruling class gave a sh** about its underlings - you know, the people who elected them, and the English peasants kept in touch with events, questioned them and got out there and raged.

It's odd that the government denies English civic institutions and an inclusive English civic identity, as your main man at the CEP blog says. It's odd that Blackpool Council should feed the fear of racism by saying that the England flag is a bad thing, and that is what they are saying with the ban for taxi drivers. But they're only doing it because they can. Because the people won't speak up and say "NO!"

I was reading that it's (apparently) interesting how St George's flags are being flown earlier than ever this World Cup season. Is it to do with a rising sense of injustice at the democratic deficit? No. It's because the English want 1966 all over again. That's all. They don't know or don't care about what's happening politically. And don't blame the media. There's plenty about the issue on the internet if people care to look.

A lot of the fault lies with your own smug, politically correct top brass and the English peasant tendency to tug forelocks and say "aye, sir!"

I'll need to think about all this, but you make some interesting points, McCisco! Thank you.

Sainsburys - "Official England Supermarket" and Gigantic Hypocrite

Sainsbury's - "OFFICIAL ENGLAND SUPERMARKET"? What?!

This is one of the "big two" supermarkets (Tesco being the other) which won't even acknowledge England's existence the rest of the time! Remember the Sainsbury's casserole packs - with: "carrots from Lincolnshire, UK; Onions from Lincolnshire, UK; Swede from Fife, Scotland; Turnip from Fife, Scotland..."

Check out how Sainsbury's submerges England as "UK", yet acknowledges Scotland across its various lines. And then tell me how it qualifies to be "official supermarket" of England's national football team?

And as for Tesco - that store will not feature the Cross of St George on English products, but is happily raking in the profits selling St George's flags and other items to cash in on football fever.

I'd actually feel very disloyal to England, buying any football-related merchandise from either Sainsbury's or Tesco.

Both stores are actually England-hating hypocrites.

Think about it. Don't buy.

GMTV Report on Scotland's Lack of Support for the England Football Team...

I was roused from my slumbers this morning by the phone ringing. It was an old pal of mine, reporting that ITV 1's breakfast telly channel GMTV was covering the "issue" of Scotland's lack of support for England in the coming World Cup.

I'm not a great footie fan, and I have enough trouble coping with a bowl of muesli to ever bother with breakfast TV in the morning, but my pal's news interested me. I personally don't think it's at all odd or wrong that most people in Scotland don't support the English football team. Why on earth should they? It's the way many folk north of the border buy the opposing teams' strips I find childish. But, to return to the GMTV report, it seems to me that the media in the past didn't pay much attention to the attitudes of Scots regarding English football. This year seems different. I have read several articles on the subject.

I wonder what it all means?
