Oh well. There's always next time. Personally, I think it would be better if our lads toughened up a bit - came on to the pitch with bubble perms and a display of skilled gobbing, like a match I recently saw from 1980. Well, perhaps not, but I can't help feeling that Beckham and co are a bit on the foppish side - all pouty photo shoots and fat advertising contracts for "Police" sunglasses. What next - Nivea handcream?
Yep, there's always next time. The important thing is to make sure that England still exists next time and has not become "the regions of the UK", bordering on the "proud, historic nations" of Scotland and Wales - New Labour's cherished dream.
Remember, dear readers, England is not just a football team - and England is in trouble. In danger of abolition no less. Of being sent off the pitch forever.
England needs you.
