Remembering The Turmoil Of The 1980s - But What Outrages People Now?

We often think back to the sheer naked havoc that was the 1980s. Were you at Greenham Common? Were you a miner or a yuppie? Just where did you stand politically? Chances are, you would be making it obvious.

Nowadays, of course, people don't seem very motivated when it comes to politics. "Politicians have failed us!" they wail, and go out and buy a new ipod, some 1960s style wallpaper or a rustic style cruet set.

Or whatever.

Meanwhile, the politicians get bolder and bolder. England? We don't care about England! No, you can't have a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty! WE know what's best...

And so on.

And so on.

Oh, to be in the 1980s now that autumn's here...

  1. I believe civil strife is a gnat's widget away. And when it starts, it will not stop. Resentment is building, the only people who don't know or care about it are the boys in the Westminster bubble...
