King Charles - Health Apartheid Against England? Doesn't Care. But Securing a Favour from President Trump on Removing American Tariffs on Scottish Whiskey? So Important!

                                  

King Charles cares passionately about the five million people in Scotland, who, of course, deserve to keep their devolved taxes, benefit from the unfair Barnett Formula out of English taxes, and so on. But the 57 million people living in England? Not so you'd notice. We are simply the disadvantaged, demonized rump of the so-called UK... A bunch of mugs...

We noticed King Charles nipping off to America and making Scotland his priority. Yep, he asked President Trump, as a special favour, to drop tariffs on Scotch whiskey.

Great.

Then he nips back to England and continues to ignore the fact that the Barnett Formula awards higher block grants to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, allowing free prescriptions for millionaires in those countries, while the most ethnically diverse country, England, which has no national representation, is forced to charge nearly £10 per item to those just above the poverty line. And has lower per capita spending on health, education, etc.

This pandering to the tiny country of Scotland has to stop. It went too far many, many years ago, and the constant assertion that Scotland is a 'victim' and 'morally superior' to England does not hold up to any objective scrutiny.

Darien? The Darien bailout from England? Clan warfare? The fake Celtic myth of 1707, from Welshman Edward Lhuyd? Scotsman Douglas Mason, the inventor of the Poll Tax? Disproportionate activity in the British Empire, creating huge profits for Scotland and an elevated voice on the world stage (used to backstab England largely)? And then the North Sea oil is supposed to be Scotland's only?

And Wales? Not saintly either. No ancient, unified country of beauty and sweetness - a web of internecine rivalries, factions and kingdoms. And we musn't forget that Ireland was partitioned by a Welsh PM with avid backing of Protestant Scots.

No UK nation is deserving of higher care and education spending than any other.

Lord Joel Barnett himself spoke out about the unfairness of his formula to England several times.

But the only action we get is the UK Government trying to carve England up into tinpot regions, and the King nipping off to America and securing privileges for a Scottish export.

And then there's the West Lothian Question.

Wake up, people. The UK is not a united kingdom. The Scots and Welsh representatives, both devolved and in the UK Parliament, have no concern for the people of England, and simply want to butter their own parsnips. The UK Parliament simply wants to retain power over England and carve it up.

Rabid self interest all round.

And as for you? Keep paying the prescription charges and paying into the Barnett pot and shut up, OK?

The Racist Element

I had an e-mail today asking if I thought there was a racist element at work regarding the current situation.

I think there is - but it's one of a number of things working against the people of England in the devolution game.

A few thoughts of mine...

1) The "racist" element...

England is a cosmopolitan country with a very long history. Since the Act of Union with Scotland, England has become absorbed into the bulk of the UK in a way that Scotland and Wales haven't.

For some reason, all the baggage of the old British Empire has been laid at England's door - despite the fact that it was actually a venture of England, Scotland, Wales and the whole of Ireland. And the Scots were disproportionately active in the running of the Empire. The trouble is that the other UK nations have heaped the blame on to England. And the poison has spread abroad.

Ridiculous.

The Empire was a BRITISH venture, in very different times, now judged by many to have been a "very bad thing". Fine. But it's gone. We can only learn the lessons from it, and scapegoating England, with the other nations smugly climbing into their pulpits to denounce us for something they were EQUALLY guilty of, is not on.

2) Celts and Anglo Saxons.

We believed that the traditional cultures of England, Scotland and Wales were largely based on traditions handed down from the Celts and Anglo Saxons. But that's been debunked by DNA studies. The Anglo Saxons (who didn't call themselves that) were a minority who married into the existing population to form the early English. Very inclusive, eh? And the Celts? No Celtic fringe, the whole thing seems to date from 1707 when Welsh Nationalist Edward Lhuyd tried to bind together certain languages linguistically and called them 'Celtic'. So, it sticks in my crop a little when some Scots, Welsh, Irish and "Cornish" folk refer to themselves as "Celts" and their cultures as 'Celtic'. There is a similar, but much smaller problem proportionally, with some English people proclaiming themselves "Anglo Saxon". Surely English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh are nationalities - not proclamations of pure bloodlines?!

Surely you don't have to be WHITE to be English, Scottish, Irish or Welsh?

In the case of the English, people proclaiming themselves "Anglo Saxon" are usually smacked on the snout with TV programmes like "100% English". But the Scots, Welsh and Irish are allowed to describe themselves as "Celts" and nobody says a word. Stinking double standards.

I sometimes get the impression that the people of England are treated as an "impure rabble" by this UK Government - and that is why we have health apartheid, the West Lothian Question etc - and as soon as anybody mentions England or Englishness the Government screeches "RACIST!!" Very odd. But UK PLC and the likes of Gordon Brown feathering his own country's nest must come first.

When Mr Brown rambles on about his plans for "Britain" he's usually talking about England by the way. He has very little authority over domestic policy in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. His own constituents up in Scotland are largely unaffected by his actions. And he isn't democratically accountable to the people of the country he does rule. That's right, England.

Brown's in a flap, he's forcing public buildings in England to fly the Union Flag (they fly their own flags in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) purely for his own ends. He's not out to foster a sense of solidarity in England. Far from it. Divide and rule, that's his game. He's ramming the Union Flag down your throat because he's terrified you may realise what's going on in devolution (for some) Britain.

'Scotland is a proud, historic nation,' said Scotsman Tony Blair when beginning the asymmetric national devolution project. But not without skeletons and historical revisionism in its closet. So, what was England? Chopped liver, eh, Tony?

This leads us neatly to regional assemblies or 'English regions'? These are basically a recently devised way of dissolving England into easily-ruled, tinpot regions. The North East, the only area allowed a referendum, voted 78% NO to regionalisation. But it still continues apace. Non-elected, corrupt, money sapping bodies, taking powers from your elected local councils.

3) Who can be English?

English is a nationality and all citizens of England are entitled to be English. England is a country with traditions stretching back centuries and these should not be suppressed as the UK Government is always attempting to do. English culture, like St George's Day, is supposed to be "non-inclusive". Rubbish. That's just the Government trying to brainwash people. The culture of England is as inclusive as its politicians want it to be. Nobody moving here imagines that they are moving to a country with no history or traditions. It is a cynical ploy by the Government to divide and rule when the screeches of "RACIST!" are heard. I live in an ethnically mixed area, and I can honestly say that the only people I have heard debunking English traditions are white, chattering class, Nu Labour supporting idiots.

And remember whilst you are at it that Nu Labour is NOT Old Labour. Back in the 1980s, I was vehemently anti-Thatcher, a confirmed Socialist. But Nu Labour is NOT a Socialist party. The damage done to the NHS, social care and education in England under Nu Labour would have had us fainting with disbelief back in the 1980s!

And the writers of this blog are all care workers and nurses. We speak from experience. Not Okay when Thatcher tried it, but nowadays people take the high moral ground for voting for Nu Labour, who have done a damned sight worst.

Hypocrites.

To return to "Who Can Be English", I believe that the establishment of an English civic national identity is highly important. Scots and Welsh versions are already being worked on by their national executives. But remember Scotland and Wales have far lower levels of immigration, even proportionally, than England. England needs it much more, and yet the UK Government frequently 'others' England and Englishness.

One of the worst developments of recent years is the rise of the odious BNP. This is happening as that party makes hay with the government's and main opposition parties' skewed and unfair policies. It must be stopped. And its flag is the union flag, and sometimes the flags of each so-called 'UK' nation.

So much more I could write...

But remember that it cannot be right that millionaires in Wales don't pay prescription fees, whilst people scrimp and save for them in England. Without the Barnett Formula, deemed unfair to poor people across England by its late creator, Lord Joel Barnett, Wales couldn't do that. And Rhodri Morgan saying, 'We've made the English jealous!!' Yes, with English taxpayers' money.

It cannot be right that public services and the NHS are more highly funded in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, via subsidies from England.

It cannot be right that people die in England for want of medication available on the NHS in Scotland.

It cannot be right that unaccountable MPs, including our PM, force legislation onto England that will not affect their own constituents, via the West Lothian Question.

It is not only the BNP that is racist. UK politics is heavy with it, all levelled against the people of England.

We do not live in a democracy.

If, after this, you believe that England is getting what it deserves, that it is an evil, corrupt country which has dominated the UK for far too long, then take a closer look at history. Once again, you will see that England is all too often scapegoated for the sins of Britain.

For instance, did you know that Ireland was partitioned under PM David Lloyd George, a Welshman, with avid backing from Scots Protestant MPs?

Blame for the past must be shared.

And England must be allowed parity with the other UK nations - or the so-called Union must end.

By the way, I'm very happy to proclaim myself English and I'm of English/Scots parentage, with a hefty dash of German not far back. But I was born in ENGLAND, as was my mother.

Take a little time to think things over. Stop streaming, turn off that podcast. Politicians are getting away with murder whilst the electorate lounges around.

And what are English MPs doing whilst all this is happening, you may ask? Most are riding the gravy train. Because they are never called to account for England.

'Britain! Britain! Britain!' Yep, the union of Empire. Weird, eh?

Because politically England does not exist.

Lord Donald Cameron of Lochiel - Another England-Hating, Scotland-Glorifying 'UK' Government Parasite - Snout in the Trough, Hands in Our Pockets...

Goodness! Scotland now has a First Minister, its own parliament, an unfair say on legislation passed for the much larger and ethnically diverse country of England (the West Lothian Question) and the Barnett Formula - reviled by its late creator, Lord Joel Barnett!

Note how the Scottish Secretary of State (why do we need one now? We don't. We have a Scottish First Minister and parliament to confer with. How much is he paid?) avoids any mention of England in his House of Lords speech, and is basically an anti-England, UK Parliament gravy-train rider, paid for by England, and continuing the long tradition of a racist, resentful elite in the UK: Scotland - a tiny country of five million, free prescriptions for millionaires, keeping all its tax payer money, and getting loans from the so-called UK Government whenever it wants.

The five million people in Scotland compare to how many in England? And they have ALL this privilege. Surely not a healthy way to run a united kingdom, is it?

Donald Cameron resorts to the disgraceful obfuscation technique of referring to the 'UK' as a country twice in his spiel. The UK is a NATION, a so-called union of countries. If that was not so, Scotland would hardly have screeched for it own parliament - and Donald Cameron would not have jumped on the gravy train there. The UK is a democratically corrupt nation. It is not fit for purpose.

And Cameron's waffle about the Hebrides and the 'busy streets of London'? Both could be dealt with by the UK Parliament and local politicians representing those areas within it. Scotland already scoops far more from the pot than England proportionally via the Barnett Formula AND its own politicians and government buildings, on top of its snout-in-trough attendees at the 'UK' Parliament.

Donald Cameron slyly omits to mention that his own country, Scotland, has full recognition as a country, and that flag waving jingoism, historical revisionism, and a strong sense of exclusivity are all the rage there.

The 'UK' Parliament will do anything to preserve the travesty of the so-called UK - and is, itself, riddled with hatred for England. Yes, the most ethnically diverse UK country of all. The people of England have had no say in the type of government they want and have not been asked if they agree with asymmetric national devolution.

We have simply had a ruling UK elite trying to regionalise us out of existence.

We are ruled by devious hogs.

Remember, all this benefits a tiny number of UK residents - the five million in Scotland, a country which (falsely) lists itself as a Celtic Nation (based on the racist white Celtic myth, originating in 1707) and even its millionaires don't pay for  prescriptions and its people receive more spending per head of population than the people of England. 

Wake up. Racism is alive and well in the so-called UK. And a lot of it is courtesy of our governing bodies - and absolutely part of the exclusive, jingoistic nature of the smaller countries of Scotland and, to a much lesser degree, Wales.

'Scots' - Not A Language And Not 'National' Either...

According to the Scottish Government, 'Scots' - a dialect spoken in parts of Lowland Scotland - is now a language. And all the nationalistic Little Scotlanders have 'corrected' Wikipedia. They can't bear England and Wales to have something they don't. It's like spoilt children. When you took a look at Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, above. you can see the angry, bumptious, intimidating attitude which prevails all too clearly.

Small attitude. Small country. Not a good advertisement for Scotland - and not one endorsed by many Scots.

And bodies which back this absurd notion? Well, Scotland has long posed as a lovely, oppressed nation. It wasn't and isn't, no country is without sins, but modern politics does not question. It kowtows. And sod England. 

Paying for prescription charges and just above the poverty line in England (the most ethnically diverse UK country) while helping to fund free prescriptions for all, including millionaires in the far less ethnically diverse Scotland and Wales? Don't mention it - or we'll call you a 'Little Englander' or a 'racist' or...

Of course, Scots Nats and some plastic Scots born abroad - desperate for lovely, rosy coloured myths of their 'homeland' (Braveheart - ahem!) - love it. The 'Woke' also flock to it. Dear little oppressed Scotland! Higher funding, far better democratic representation, a vote on whether to stay in the UK, then the right to continue swaggering and belly-aching when the vote is 'Yes'... But oppressed.

Gaelic was the language of Scotland - and is a fascinating language indeed. "Scots" is an English dialect really - like Yorkshire. Or could we jiggle it?

For a start, if 'Scots' is a language, it cannot be called 'Scots' - because it's not spread across the whole of Scotland. English is, of course, spread across the whole of England. This pricks the 'Scots' nationalistic, jingoistic bubble a little, but 'Scots' could be called 'Southern Lowlands language' perhaps - with the Highlands having a 'Northern Highlands language'?

The links of 'Scots' to England and historic Northumberland in particular? Forget it! 'Wee' is middle English and is a used in its original form and as a colloquialism for the act of urinating in most parts of England, but the Scots must have their way - logic out the window!

Is Scots 'Anglic'? Well, as the Anglo Saxons didn't call themselves that, married into the existing population in what became England very early on (Oakington), and this mixing coalesced quite quickly into something called 'English', a new language, the 'Anglic' academic term is daft. Like so many academic terms.

Of course, the UK has many dialects. But if you're going to claim 'Scots' is a language ('Aye' is an English word, by the way. Ever been to the North of England? It's even used down south!) then it cannot be a national language, because it's not used nationally. A lot of it is English, or derived from English, and it cannot be called 'Scots' because most Scots don't use it. 

It's not national.

Hope that's clear...

Scotland shows its insecurity and pettiness with this kind of illogical nonsense, nothing else.

Brick by brick, Scotland is becoming a madhouse - bursting with 'woke' mentality (England and Wales are the same on that score), fake victimhood (Wales has a dose of that too), jingoism (they were, of course, disproportionately active in colonising during the British Empire), historic revisionism, anti-English rhetoric, jealousy, and exclusivity - while pretending to love the world. But not their nearest neighbours - a far more ethnically diverse country than theirs.

And the Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question and asymmetric national devolution...

A country of five million - an ever more jingoistic and deranged elite amongst its numbers - in a UK nation of how many?

Scotland The Brave - Jingoistic Scottish Session On BBC Radio 1...

It is my grave misfortune to hear BBC Radio 1 once a week. Not my choice. During my weekly "treats", I've heard Edith Bowman twittering on about Scotland and the "bagpipes" - whilst never once referring to England. I've heard brain-dead DJs twittering on about the thrill of having jelly beans in the studio. I've heard many re-hashes of 1980s songs, and (post) modern songs that sound like they're straight from the 1960s and even, occasionally (God help us) the 1970s.

And today I heard Scotland The Brave played on the bagpipes.

With all its current biased Scots content, the BBC needs to drop the first "B" and replace it with an "S".

It could stand for "Scottish" or it could stand for "Shit".

Either would be appropriate.

Inland Revenue: Bank Of England Out, Royal Bank Of Scotland In...

Incredibly, Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling and the rest of the Scottish Raj at Westminster are at it again:

During 2009 the Bank of England will no longer handle the Inland Revenue transactions. The bank accounts will in future be operated by the Royal Bank of Scotland and by Citibank. If you make electronic payments to the Inland Revenue, you will need to update your records to ensure that the payment goes to the correct bank account. Full details will be being issued in the near future.

Great business for the Royal Bank of Scotland, of course.

We know that Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling pledged to put Scotland first in all they did way back in 1989, but this is getting ridiculous.

Just how much more are the sheep of England prepared to take?

CEP: Gordon Brown puts Scotland first, not Britain

"On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament last Wednesday July 1st Gordon Brown published an article in the Scottish Daily Record," stated Philippa Cullen of Lower Froyle in Hampshire in her end-of-month message to CEP members in the county.

"It reeked with Scottish nationalism. Coming from a British Prime Minister who should put Britain first and speak equally of each nation of Britain it was outrageous. Yet it was totally consistent with his written pledge of March 31st 1989 when as 'one of the leaders of Labour's campaign for devolution' he signed the Scottish Claim of Right vowing 'to make the interests of the Scottish people paramount in everything he said and did'. His government, he says, 'has never stopped focusing on delivering for the Scottish people'.

"In the article he celebrates 'Scotland’s rich and vibrant political history'. He talks of 'the bravery and brilliance of Scots in uniform', no mention of the English who make up the vast bulk of the British Army, Navy and Air Force. He describes how he 'had campaigned for a fairer future for Scotland' and how he had made policy that 'pays off for the Scots. Our decision to build two state-of-the-art aircraft carriers at shipyards including Govan, Scotstoun and Rosyth has secured thousands of jobs in Scotland and protected Scots' hard-earned savings'. He omits to mention that the preservation of shipbuilding jobs in Scotland had been at the deliberate expense of England's shipyards, particularly Devonport and Tyneside.

"He exhibits breathtaking effrontery by saying that 'the Scottish people rightly felt frustrated in recent decades as unpopular decisions were made on health, education and policing', while knowing full well that his fellow Scottish Labour MPs in the UK Parliament have taken away English MPs' choice on foundation hospitals and university tuition fees by voting against them and imposing these against English wishes.

"Unashamedly he boasts that the Scots can enjoy 'influencing decisions in Westminster' while making no mention of the West Lothian Question. He trumpets on about 'Scottish solutions to Scottish issues on things such as free personal care for the elderly, tuition fees, free travel for the elderly and prescription charges', as if England doesn't have exactly the same issues; and as if he is unaware, which he most definitely is not, that in terms of tax revenue it is the English taxpayer who pays for the extra benefits the Scots now enjoy. In terms of tax revenue Scotland is unable to pay its own way. 'The Union Government invests billions of pounds in Scotland beyond the Scottish Parliament’s £35 billion annual budget' he writes. What he does not write is that 90% of the Union Government's revenue comes the English taxpayer.

Because of devolution, Brown writes, 'Scots could finally start taking more control of our daily lives'. Note his use of the word 'our'. He smugly says "For the first time in 300 years, Scotland once again had its own parliament’. There is no fiercer opponent of England having its own parliament and the English having 'control of their daily lives'. than him; and he is using all the instruments of the British state to try to make sure it never happens. He boasts of 'hosting a working dinner in my home in Fife for leaders from all the Holyrood parties'. Would he ever as much as think of getting representatives of the people of England together 'to focus on delivering for the English people'?

As Brown so rightly says in the article, more truthfully than he realizes: 'In short, devolution gives Scotland the best of both worlds'

CEP: At last, an English MP speaks up for England and English jobs

'All classes of nuclear submarines in Britain will be based at Faslane on the Clyde in Scotland from 2017'. That was yesterday’s announcement from Bob Ainsworth Minister of State for Defence. As from 2017 there won’t be a single nuclear submarine based in any English naval port. There will be no jobs for an Englishman or woman in the maintenance and service of the British nuclear fleet as from 2017.The four Vanguard class submarines, which carry Britain's Trident nuclear deterrent, are already based in Faslane. But from 2017 the remaining three nuclear-powered Trafalgar Class submarines, which do not carry nuclear warheads, will be moved from Devonport in Plymouth to Faslane. All the 10,000 plus jobs plus a similar number in the industries immediately supplying the bases will go from Devon to Scotland.

‘This is the most blatant act of discrimination against the English workforce yet carried out by this Scottish-led government in its eleven years of existence,’ David Wildgoose, Vice Chairman of the Campaign for an English Parliament, has stated in an emergency letter sent to all CEP members. ‘I urge every single member to write to their MP to object to this injustice. Britain's entire nuclear submarine fleet is to be based at Faslane on the Clyde. This government is allowing the "Scottish agenda" to threaten English jobs. Gordon Brown is taking jobs away from the English workforce of Devonport to ingratiate himself with this own Scottish countrymen and women in the hope of preserving Scottish votes in the coming local and EU elections on June 4th and the General Election next year. It is downright wrong. It is downright discrimination.

‘I agree wholeheartedly with the condemnation of the decision made by Gary Streeter, the MP for Devon South West who has said: "I fear that the Devonport naval base is going to be allowed to wither on the vine over the next five to 10 years. It has had 320 years of history. We will have the amphibious fleet, but that is three boats and not much else. That is not going to replace all these frigates and submarines". I agree with Mr Streeter when he says he is particularly angry because English jobs were being jeopardised by an attempt to appease the Scots.

And Mr Wildgoose reminded the CEP membership that for the last two years, in one press release after another, the Campaign has been trying to bring public attention to this Scottish-led UK government’s policy of transferring naval shipyard employment from Devonport, Tyneside, Barrow on Furness and Appledore to the two Scottish yards of Faslane on the Clyde adjacent to the Glasgow heartland of the government’s support in Scotland and to Rosyth right next to Gordon Brown’s own constituency. ‘We must make our objections known to our English MPs. English MPs must stand up for the English workforce'.

Times Poll On Devolution Is Seriously Flawed And Highly Misleading...

The Times has carried out a survey on attitudes to Scottish devolution south and north of the border, and its headline trumpets:

70% of Britons support devolution for Scotland, poll suggests

Well, I hate to be a party pooper, but as 42% of those surveyed in England desire an English Parliament, and 52% believe that Scots constituency MPs should not be voting on English matters, the poll hardly suggests that everything in the garden is lovely. Also, consider the facts that only 911 people were surveyed in England and Wales (together) compared to 500 in Scotland - suggesting, as usual, that Scots' opinions are far more important than those from elsewhere in the UK.

And when you consider there are around 60 million people in England, as compared to around 5 million in Scotland...

But, apart from all this, the Times poll strikes us here at WENAP as another prime example of the media in England seeking to hide the facts about devolution - the headline suggests that everything in the garden is rosy, and as the media fails to inform people in England about the detrimental effects of devolution on its citizens, surely the poll is a complete and utter farce?

This particular quote from the Times reveals how absurdly ill-informed the majority of people are, thanks to the likes of the Times and the BBC:

It [the survey] found that 65% of people in Scotland and 73% in England and Wales believed relationships between the two countries have not changed since before devolution a decade ago.

And what about this? -

The Times newspaper survey found 70% of people north of the border and 70% in England and Wales thought devolution had been good for Scotland.

We believe that devolution has been good for Scotland - unfairly so - but that doesn't mean we support the current situation, and the Times headline states: 70% of Britons Support Devolution For Scotland. This is completely skewed and misleading.

Also, if the survey was about "relationships between the two countries" - our emphasis - meaning England and Scotland - why on earth were people in Wales surveyed on this point? What position are they in to judge?

Until the media in England opens up about the facts regarding devolution, then all such polls are a waste of time.

But, even taking that into account, we are surprised and gratified that 41% of those polled in England desire an English Parliament and 52% do not want Scots constituency MPs voting on English legislation.

CEP: Open letter to the Calman Commission on Scottish Devolution and the British Government from the campaign for an English Government

We read in the Times online of 28th April 2009 that radical plans to give the Scottish government control of up to half of the income tax raised north of the Border and most of the revenue from North Sea oil and gas are being considered by economists advising the Calman Commission.

We are told that the commission, chaired by Sir Kenneth Calman, was charged by the three main Unionist parties (Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative) to find ways that the existing devolution settlement can be made to work better for all parts of the UK. We must assume that all parts of the UK includes England but most of the gas fields are in English waters so who is to negotiate on England’s behalf? Who has the authority to ensure that the interests of the English taxpayers are protected? Indeed who speaks for England?

We are further told that the commission is set to back borrowing powers for Holyrood as one of its main recommendations when it reports later this year. While not explicitly stated, the inference from other reports is that the borrowing will be from the British Government the vast majority of whose funding comes from England. With the example of the toxic assets of the Scottish banks before us should not England be consulted before its people are touched for any loan? And what guarantee do the people of England have that such debts will be administered by those with the best interests of England at heart?

If Holyrood is to get most of the revenue from British North Sea oil and gas-will the Scottish government then take on most of the cost of the failure of the Scottish Banks or will the enormous national debt, taken on by the British Government on behalf of those banks, remain a millstone around the necks of the English taxpayer for a generation?

The Calman Commission had a remit largely specific to Scotland. In a united kingdom why does Scotland gets to debate about Scotland with a Scottish PM, Scottish Chancellor, Scottish Speaker, without reference to the rest of the Union? At least Wales and Northern Ireland have their own Assemblies to argue for their interests. England as usual, is left with nothing but the bill.

It is imperative that an English Assembly or Parliament is convened in order to protect the interests of the people of England who are currently unrepresented nationally in the British constitutional settlement.

Stuart Cosgrove, Director Nations And Regions - Just One Reason Why Channel 4 Hates England And The English

Channel 4 used to be edgy and innovative; now it just seems to churn out the same old formula programming and anti-English bias as all the other terrestrial channels.

But of course, old matey. Channel 4 has joined the UK Government in abolishing England, wothout a say-so from the electorate/viewers, and despite the North East of England, the only area allowed a referendum on regionalisation, voting 78% NO.

But never mind democracy. Like the UK Government, Channel 4 has no time for such a concept when it comes to England and now has a "Director of Nations and Regions" (because England is not a nation, of course). The nations are Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England does not exist.

Channel 4's Director of Nations And Regions is one Stuart Cosgrove, a Scottish journalist, not noted for his love of the English, but very much noted for his love of Scotland, his homeland.

So, there you go.

In the TV clip at the bottom of this post, Stuart Cosgrove is actually billed as "Director Nations And Regions 1997-present", which must be a lie as devolution hadn't happened in 1997 and "nations and regions" were unheard of! Perhaps Stuart Cosgrove was originally director of regions - areas outside London. Seems, Mr Cosgrove, there has been a little tweaking since devolution - which is, of course, completely in line with UK Government policy and brainwashing (lets make the English think "nations and regions" have ALWAYS been a facty of life) and in the interests of England-hating Little Scotlanders and Little Walesians everywhere!

The CEP News Blog has this on the "Nations and Regions" coinage, which is almost certainly post-1997 - because back then there was only one nation - the UK. Scotland and Wales had no government other than Westminster.

Interestingly, the “nations and regions” political spin so loved by Gordon Brown appears to be a Scottish idea from The Institute of Governance at the University of Edinburgh.

Actually from a Scottish or Welsh perspective, “nations and regions” does have a certain logic in relation to the disproportionate size, population and influence of England as a UK territory - makes things appear a lot more equal and proportionate. Unfortunately, from an English perspective its insulting.

The BBC: Radio 1 - Anti-English Hatred Prescribed At The Surgery

Channel hopping on the radio last night driving back from the cinema I stumbled across a show called “The Surgery” on BBC Radio 1 - ostensibly it’s an advice show for young people but last night it was in full blown British Brainwashing Corp propaganda mode. Where the topic of conversation was nationality and national identity.

Presented by Welsh chap called Aled who identified with being Welsh and a young lady and BBC careerist called Charlotte Aston who firstly described herself as English through and through but later denied her Englishness and identified herself as primarily British because her mates came from all over the “UK”.

This show stinks to high heaven - it is purest stinking anti-English racist bile!

I fired off an e-mail:

I was completely stunned at The Surgery piece on Englishness, Scottishness and Welshness yesterday. This came across as pure anti-English hatred.

Currently, the UK Government discriminates against every resident of England via the Barnett Formula and the lack of a dedicated national parliament for England is the reason that non-representative MPs can foist legislation onto England like top-up fees and foundation hospitals - both decided by MPs from outside of England whose own constituents will not be affected.

“Wow people just don’t say English do they? I’ve never noticed this before," said presenter Aled. “Is it that the Regions of England are stronger than the country as a whole?”

The only area of England allowed a referendum on regionalisation was the North East - which voted 78% against. And the people of England are force fed "Britishness" by the UK Government and the likes of the BBC. There is no chance of an inclusive, civic English identity being developed.

And yet people can die in England for want of medication available on the NHS in Scotland - where spending is so much higher. And prescriptions are free to everybody, including millionaires in Wales, but poor folk in England struggle to pay the rising costs here.

The largest, most cosmopolitan country of the so-called UK is demonised and its electorate treated as second class citizens by the UK Government and the BBC. Just who are the racists?

Regionalisation - the Balkanisation - of England is a beloved project of the BBC and the UK Government.

Did you know that around 75% of the legislation passed by Gordon Brown's Government does not affect his own constituents in Scotland - which has its own national parliament? Is this democracy?

Back to The Surgery: Charlotte Aston falsely stated that the Cross of St George had racist connotations! This is a myth. The flag of the odious BNP is the Union Flag, this is part of their logo, and ALL the other flags of the UK are also flown at their rallies.

Charlotte Aston, having disowned Englishness, basically seemed to be inciting hatred against anybody defining themselves as English and flying that country's flag - obviously "racist"!

A caller claimed that Scots are referred to as "British" at sporting events and the English as "English". Have you looked at the BBC's own on-line material regarding the Olympics? The absolute reverse is true! This is brainwashing.

The BBC itself has reported on anti-English attacks in Scotland and Wales in recent years, and programmes like these which scapegoat the English as racist and spread anti-English propaganda should not be happening.

The BBC is racist. And charges of racism can be brought against those vilifying any particular nationality. The BBC is anti-English.

The Corporation also fails to address the various inequalities that devolution has heaped on England. I would like to make this a formal complaint. And all replies will be published on-line.

The UK Government Says - England Does Not Exist And The Regions Come Last On Our List Of Priorities...

How low down the list do we come on "The Government Says" site?

Well, there's what the UK Government is saying about matters UK wide, or what the UK Government is saying about matters in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales and what the UK Government is saying on Travel Advice.

Next is what the UK Government is saying about the international scene - on The Whitehouse, The United Nations and something called "Spin Different".

And finally, what the UK Government is saying about The Regions - well down the list, aren't they? Broken up, tinpot areas, without proper democratic representation. Previously part of a nation called England. And last on the list even though the population of each individual region far outstrips the populations of Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

To the UK Government, England simply does not exist. And the UK regions are always the very last things to be considered.

UPDATE: Recall how the North East, the only area allowed a referendum, voted NO to reginalisation - by 78%? But as soon as Gordon Brown came to power he determined to make regions absolute, and, thanks to the casting vote of Harriet Harman on the Modernisation Committee, plus lapdog English MPs and MPs from elsewhere in the UK, eager to keep the "Celtic" elite, his dream has become reality.

The British Retail Consortium - The Missing Link In England's Supermarkets' Anti-England Attitude?

You know what it's like. You've written to Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrison's, Asda, Marks and Spencer and the Co-op about their refusal to label English products as English, nonsensically labelling them "British" whilst excluding the Scots and Welsh from that by marking them with Scots and Welsh flags. You've signed petitions, you've screamed, you've been ignored.

All of the major supermarkets in England seem determined to ignore England's existence whilst merrily displaying Scots and Welsh flags on their product packaging and slogans like "Morrison's - Proud To Serve Scotland".

Lately, there has been some hope that Sainsbury's may be about to launch a few clearly flagged English lines, but Tesco has hardened its face against England, proclaiming that "English inhabitants" feel more British than English, and using this dubious finding as an even more dubious reason to delete those very few lines they do have that are marked "English".

Alfie discovered the facts, and Fair Flags ran the story, along with several other sites, including this one. Maria discovered an interesting comment in the Fair Flags comments thread, pointing at a possible factor for this anti-English attitude in supermarkets across England. It's an organisation called The British Retail Consortium. The comment states that Alistair Darling has a finger firmly stuck in this pie, and a little investigation by Maria has thrown up the fact that the Consortium has British, Brussels, Scottish (of course) and London departments, but no English department - nor yet a Welsh one - although the Welsh Assembly does have input, as does the Northern Ireland Office.

Is this the missing link - the organisation orchestrating our supermarkets' and English food producers' growing anti-England bias (think Dairy Crest)?

Because something certainly is.

Scots Who Still Won't See The Injustice Of Devolution And English MPs Who Won't Do Their Jobs...

This is funny:

“The Union has to be seen as looser, more flexible, more diverse and modern and in turn allow the issues at the heart of devolved government - sovereignty, identity, democracy and nationality - to be better understood and made more relevant to Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England.”

Despite the first three nations already being showered with devolution goodies, despite the fact that health apartheid is rampant, England is still last on the list.

And this is sickening:

“It [the Union} has within it different nations and regions with views and attitudes towards the Union that vary widely.”

The Union is not composed of regions.

It’s time England was independent. That certain Scots still think they can seek to impose a different set of rules on England to those enjoyed by themselves, and all this posturing and preening - “Scot of The Year” - I mean YUCK!! - shows that insight and fair mindedness is far too lacking for the Union to continue.

When you put these people together with the selfish and greedy English MPs, refusing to act in the interests of their constituents, the message is clear:

End the “Union”.

Then Scots meddlers can mind THEIR OWN business and English MPs will be forced to get on with WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING - representing their constituents’ interests in England.

You never know, the "Scot of the Year" might actually be somebody who lacks the bigoted "auld enemy" mentality and actually sets in motion an end to the devolutionary mess... but don't bank on it.

Some Scots MPs Would Like To See England Abolished...

Despite the North East, the only area of England allowed a referendum, voting 78% NO to regionalisation, Ian Davidson, a Scots constituency MP totally unaccountable to the electorate in England, believes that England should be abolished as a unified nation.

"I think the proposals that we had before for regional assemblies seemed to me to be a way forward.

The ‘English votes for English issues’ proposal is a recipe for some degree of chaos. We should be looking for some way of devolving power to the English regions. The first time we had a referendum for the Scottish Parliament, we didn’t get it - so just because the referendum in the north-east [of England] went against the plan, it doesn’t mean it should be rejected completely."
Ian Davidson, Labour MP for Glasgow, reported in the Scotsman.

Regional devolution to England does not solve the West Lothian Question. The internal government of England, whether it should be delivered by our ancient counties, regional bodies or something else, should be decided by MPs representing the people of England in its own national parliament, not by non-representative MPs in the current UK parliament. I boggle at the attitude of some these Scots MPs - it's incredibly arrogant. England's own national parliament is the first priority for restoring democratic rule to the so-called "UK".

Education Spending Is Much Higher In Scotland Than In England, Reports The BBC. But It Only Tells The Scots. And Then Andrew Castle Tells Lies...

The BBC reveals...

Each school pupil in Scotland receives hundreds of pounds more in education funding than those in England, figures for 2005/06 have revealed.

Almost 12% more was spent on primary school pupils north of the border compared with those in England.

At secondary level, the rate of spending was 24% higher in Scotland.

Bizarrely, the BBC seems to think that this news is of no interest in England! It is only reported on the BBC Scotland page -

Surely it's in the English public's interests to know? But no, reported in Scotland it encourages loyalty to the "Union" - another example of unfair advantage; reported in England it encourages parents to ask why their children are second class citizens.

There was a report on the BBC Lunchtime News. It was absolutely amazing propaganda. The piece made out that the stupid English actually choose to fund their education system lower and that Tuition Fees were decided by English MPs, not Westminster MPs representing Scottish constituencies, overturning the will of our elected representatives. The Barnett Formula was not mentioned. "It's up to the English what they spend their money on," said one sniffy and highly superior Scot. um, no. What about Tuition Fees? 

There is no national English Parliament, non-representative Scottish and Welsh MPs, some steeped in hatred and one-sided revisionism and daft legends (they are not 'Celts'), vote on our legislation, and we don't benefit from the Barnett Formula - declared unfair to England, the UK's most ethnically diverse country, even proportionally, by its own creator, Lord Joel Barnett, as it provides more money per capita on NATIONAL lines outside of England.

People ACROSS the whole of England, including poor areas from Newcastle to Great Yarmouth, suffer from lower per capita spending. The 'regions' do not exist. They are just something the UK Government uses to pull the wool over our eyes.

Millionaires in Scotland and Wales don't pay for prescriptions, and have far better funding for health and education.

But the Barnett Formula is graded. Scotland gets more than Wales, and benefitted from a previous formula before Barnett's creation in 1978.

The Northern Ireland situation is rather more complex, but as the country was partitioned by a Welsh PM, with avid backing of Protestant Scots MPs, one can see that the situation was not just created by the 'evil English'

The whole report, by education "expert" Andrew Castle, was a downright lie, seeking to cuckold. The BBC is getting worse.

This concerns me greatly. The Speaker, Michael Martin, is, of course, a Scot, and this will do the Scottish image no good at all. I think he genuinely believes it, Sue. He is boosting the arrogant, racist "Little Scotlander" whilst also trying to snuff out the hopes of the SNP. The rest of us are just UK assorted rabble. The great unwashed. If an English person had said similar to Blair about England and the English, the screams of "Little Englander!" and "racist!" would resound from now till decade's end.
