King Charles - Health Apartheid Against England? Doesn't Care. But Securing a Favour from President Trump on Removing American Tariffs on Scottish Whiskey? So Important!

King Charles cares passionately about the five million people in Scotland, who, of course, deserve to keep their devolved taxes, benefit from the unfair Barnett Formula out of English taxes, and so on. But the 57 million people living in England? Not so you'd notice. We are simply the disadvantaged, demonized rump of the so-called UK... A bunch of mugs...

We noticed King Charles nipping off to America and making Scotland his priority. Yep, he asked President Trump, as a special favour, to drop tariffs on Scotch whiskey.

Great.

Then he nips back to England and continues to ignore the fact that the Barnett Formula awards higher block grants to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, allowing free prescriptions for millionaires in those countries, while the most ethnically diverse country, England, which has no national representation, is forced to charge nearly £10 per item to those just above the poverty line. And has lower per capita spending on health, education, etc.

This pandering to the tiny country of Scotland has to stop. It went too far many, many years ago, and the constant assertion that Scotland is a 'victim' and 'morally superior' to England does not hold up to any objective scrutiny.

Darien? The Darien bailout from England? Clan warfare? The fake Celtic myth of 1707, from Welshman Edward Lhuyd? Scotsman Douglas Mason, the inventor of the Poll Tax? Disproportionate activity in the British Empire, creating huge profits for Scotland and an elevated voice on the world stage (used to backstab England largely)? And then the North Sea oil is supposed to be Scotland's only?

And Wales? Not saintly either. No ancient, unified country of beauty and sweetness - a web of internecine rivalries, factions and kingdoms. And we musn't forget that Ireland was partitioned by a Welsh PM with avid backing of Protestant Scots.

No UK nation is deserving of higher care and education spending than any other.

Lord Joel Barnett himself spoke out about the unfairness of his formula to England several times.

But the only action we get is the UK Government trying to carve England up into tinpot regions, and the King nipping off to America and securing privileges for a Scottish export.

And then there's the West Lothian Question.

Wake up, people. The UK is not a united kingdom. The Scots and Welsh representatives, both devolved and in the UK Parliament, have no concern for the people of England, and simply want to butter their own parsnips. The UK Parliament simply wants to retain power over England and carve it up.

Rabid self interest all round.

And as for you? Keep paying the prescription charges and paying into the Barnett pot and shut up, OK?

What Britishness Can And Does Do That Englishness Doesn't Is To Discriminate Against All Citizens Of England

"What Englishness can't do that Britishness can do is appeal unambiguously to people of different ethnic origins," notes Janan Ganesh, political correspondent for The Economist.

It's the BBC reporting again.

But Janeh Ganesh is talking cobblers.

Britishness is not and was never intended to be a blanket nationality simply aimed at everybody living in England.

It was intended to be the blanket nationality of everybody living in England, Scotland and Wales.

With the will to do so, the word "English" could be substituted for the word "British" and an inclusive, civic English nationality be developed very easily.

New arrivals in England have "Britishness" rammed down their threats. So do longstayers

Whilst the PC crowd waste no opportunity to demonise Englishness as a non-inclusive, racist mind set.

But the English have long been a "mongrel" nation.

And all the better for it.

For a start the 'Anglo Saxons' never called themselves that, and the newcomers married into the existing population to form the early English - as proven by DNA studies in places like Oakington. And a 'Celtic' fringe? There isn't one. DNA proves that too. Edward Lhuyd's 1707 'Celtic' linguistic label did not rewrite people's DNA. The Scots notion hopped over the water from Ireland, and the Bell Beaker People displaced around 90% of the entire island's Neolithic population.

Insular? This island?

What Britishness does is place every man, woman and child in England at a serious disadvantage when compared to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The West Lothian Question, the Barnett Formula and devolution have seen to that.

A lot of this disadvantage comes from the 1707 linguistic label 'Celtic', applied to the Welsh language and other 'insular' languages by Edward Lhuyd (the 'insular' label also being a Welsh invention although the English language, with its all its quirks and richness was created in England but doesn't qualify for the 'insular' label) and later expanded into a fake ethnicity for the Welsh, Scots and Irish.

Wasn't Wales a web of competing factions and kingdoms, slugging it out internally, not a peaceful, united polity? Yep. Wasn't Ireland partitioned by a Welsh PM with avid backing of Protestant Scots? Yep.

Didn't Scotland attempt its own colonisation project at Darien, blame the English (as always) for its failure, then enter the Union, thus creating Britishness as a nationality and being disproportionately active in the British Empire, then blaming the English (as always) for the whole enterprise? Yep. Wasn't the Poll Tax invented by a Scotsman called Douglas Mason and implemented there a year early at the behest of its own Secretary of State - and then the English (as always) were blamed? Yep. Weren't the Scottish Clearances carried out by the Scots, and then the English (as always) were blamed? Yep.

And meanwhile the most ethnically diverse country, England, gets less per capita spending via the Barnett Formula (even declared unfair to England by its own creator, the late Lord Joel Barnett), meaning that those just above the poverty line in England pay nearly £10 per prescription item, while millionaires get then free in the far less ethnically diverse Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland, money scooped largely from the tax payers in England.

Because everything historically was the fault of England, apparently.

And then there is the little question of the West Lothian Question, in which non-accountable MPs get to vote - and sometimes decisively - on legislation affecting only England.

You see what a mess the so-called UK is?

The Assisted Dying Bill... Assisted By Non-Accountable MPs from Scotland - And England Constantly under Attack...

The Assisted Dying Bill has been passed by the UK Parliament. Sorry, the so-called UK Parliament. Were MPs representing Scots and Northern Irish constituencies involved in that vote? Because, if so, non-accountable MPs, MPs unelected by the English and Welsh, have sway over life and death in those countries.

The "UK" Government's relentless brown-nosing of the Scots and, to a lesser degree, the Welsh, is sickening. Based on historical victimhood nonsense, the racist Celtic myth of 1707, and an awful lot of gobbing-off amongst the eight million residents of these countries, the rest of us suffer the West Lothian Question (the Assisted Dying Bill is an example and the 2003 Foundations Hospital in England Bill was decisive), the Barnett Formula (loathed by Lord Joel Barnett, who created it) and asymmetric national devolution in general.

The Northern Ireland situation is more complicated and I don't hear a relentless tide of racist, exclusive chanting from there.

Worth remembering that the partitioning of Ireland took place under a Welsh PM, with much interest and support for this coming from Scots Protestant MPs.

With Scotland and Wales, we are clasping a couple of asps to our bosoms. I have read and heard repeatedly the nationalist, English-phobic nonsense spouted by certain Scots and Welsh folk - even from new arrivals in England, who read and believe and think the country they have arrived in is evil.

This creates tensions in England. A Muslim taxi driver recently told me all about how the English had been nothing but rotten to the innocent Scots and Welsh over the centuries, how they had stolen England from the Welsh, and that the British Empire was all the work of the English. I gave him my views, and when I left the taxi he said he was going home to acquaint himself with the Scots' actions at the time of the Empire, the truth about William Wallace, the Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question, DNA studies, 'Anglo Saxons' and the racist Celtic myth - originating with a comment about languages in 1707.

As for Wales, it was a principality of the Kingdom of England for centuries - a principality with a tiny population. If the English had hated the Welsh so much, they would have been able to exorcise the notion of Wales being, in anyway, something in its own right.

Of course, England itself throws up some interesting 'right on' denigrators - one man on YouTube positively rants about the English language, how it was largely derived from elsewhere, how he backs the racist 'Celtic' myth, and so on. Like other languages are free of influences from historic invaders or immigrants? He seems to be promoting some kind of purity myth about other languages as opposed to English, which itself seems racist. Aren't all nations mongrel? His comments threads are loaded with anti-English hate.

What this man does is actually promote hatred and the continued mistreatment of the so-called UK's largest and most ethnically diverse country.

The 'UK' Government, itself as English-phobic as can be, does nothing but continue to appease a tiny minority of Scots and Welsh people, including giving Scotland back a UK Secretary of State when it now has a national parliament!

England deserves a dedicated, national parliament and a modern, inclusive sense of English identity which learns the lessons of the past and celebrates the successes. It needs a dedicated national parliament, not submerging as 'Britain', the rump of the UK.

It is the largest and most ethnically diverse country of all, even proportionally.

Allowing racist Scots and Welsh tails to continue wagging the dog and create elitism, while stirring up racial tensions in England, is simply not on.

Alex Thomson Of The UK Column And The Racist White Celtic Myth, Root Of Much Discrimination Against England In The So-Called UK...

British? No, no - they're Scots and Welsh only. And they're 'Celts' (so sayeth Alex Thomson of UK Column) - and such victims of the horrendous English. All fine tales built on ancient white race myths and Mel Gibson's 'CRY FREEDOM!' These fine Scottish and Welsh people had nothing to do with the British Empire! (I jest)

Isn't it strange how the Celtic myth is so plainly a myth, and yet it infiltrates so much of UK life? Take the UK Column - an often interesting and rather alternative (no problem there) news site. Sadly, there is heavy 'Celtic' nonsense in the organisation, brought to bear by staff like Alex Thomson.

The whole venture is rather strangely organised anyway, with a complete non-questioning of the dreadful discrimination against every living soul in the largest and most multi-ethnic 'UK' country of all - via asymmetric national devolution, the Barnett Formula, the resurgent West Lothian Question, etc - and a very heavy focus on those five million souls living in Scotland.

DNA studies have more than proved that the notion of Anglo Saxons replacing the entire population of what is now England, and a grand, unified 'Celtic' civilisation occupying the entire island before that, are bunk.

In fact, bunk originating with a Welshman in 1707, who was only talking about language similarities of Gaelic and Welsh to the supposed 'Celtic' languages.

Of course, people can still call themselves British, English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, or whatever - these are far more logical creations, but what drives the Celtic myth is largely jingoism - a sense of false pride, a vilification of the largest country within the UK, an appropriating of ancient British history, a victimhood narrative, a strong sense of exclusivity, and an insistence on special treatment.

Take the vilification, for example. Alex Thomson refers (negatively) to 'Anglo American banks'. Um, the 'Anglo' thing is piffle for a start - does he mean English or British? The most appropriate word would be British as the Scots were and are into all that - as they were with the British Empire - to a disproportionate level.

The DNA studies also call into doubt the notion that the 'olde English' derived all - or even most - of their language and culture from the minute number of invaders. It opens up fascinating questions.

But the powerful Celtic myth adherents will do all they can to crush them.

As far as the likes of Alex Thomson are concerned, his ancestors were wonderful, faintly mystical, white beings, who sounded like Clannad when they sang, tossed the caber, formed male voice choirs, and made pasties. They and their 'culture' (?) survive despite centuries of victimhood. So, DNA studies disagree? Who gives a stuff? The level of cognitive dissonance in the so-called 'UK' ensures that, up to now, there's never been much of a challenge.

And all this has made a powerful contribution to a tiny elite in the UK enjoying more funding (the Barnett Formula), far better democratic representation (asymmetric national devolution) and chances to interfere in the democracy of a far larger and far more ethnically diverse country (England). Ever heard of the (about to resurge) West Lothian Question? Ever checked out the 2003 Foundation Hospitals vote for England?

Interesting article from Prospects magazine, from 2006 - illustrating just how little we actually know about the history of these islands - and just how much DNA studies can tell us. A quick look at Wikipedia will show you just how fiercely this is resisted. I include the beginning of the article here, and a link to the full original at the bottom of this post:

Myths of British Ancestry:

The fact that the British and the Irish both live on islands gives them a misleading sense of security about their unique historical identities. But do we really know who we are, where we come from and what defines the nature of our genetic and cultural heritage? Who are and were the Scots, the Welsh, the Irish and the English? And did the English really crush a glorious Celtic heritage?

Everyone has heard of Celts, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. And most of us are familiar with the idea that the English are descended from Anglo-Saxons, who invaded eastern England after the Romans left, while most of the people in the rest of the British Isles derive from indigenous Celtic ancestors with a sprinkling of Viking blood around the fringes.

Yet there is no agreement among historians or archaeologists on the meaning of the words “Celtic” or “Anglo-Saxon.” What is more, new evidence from genetic analysis (see note below) indicates that the Anglo-Saxons and Celts, to the extent that they can be defined genetically, were both small immigrant minorities. Neither group had much more impact on the British Isles gene pool than the Vikings, the Normans or, indeed, immigrants of the past 50 years.

The genetic evidence shows that three quarters of our ancestors came to this corner of Europe as hunter-gatherers, between 15,000 and 7,500 years ago, after the melting of the ice caps but before the land broke away from the mainland and divided into islands. Our subsequent separation from Europe has preserved a genetic time capsule of southwestern Europe during the ice age, which we share most closely with the former ice-age refuge in the Basque country. The first settlers were unlikely to have spoken a Celtic language but possibly a tongue related to the unique Basque language.

Another wave of immigration arrived during the Neolithic period, when farming developed about 6,500 years ago. But the English still derive most of their current gene pool from the same early Basque source as the Irish, Welsh and Scots. These figures are at odds with the modern perceptions of Celtic and Anglo-Saxon ethnicity based on more recent invasions. There were many later invasions, as well as less violent immigrations, and each left a genetic signal, but no individual event contributed much more than 5 per cent to our modern genetic mix.

Alex Thomson of UK Column - proud purveyor of the totally spurious Celtic myth - which has contributed to much division and unequal treatment in the so-called 'UK' - all levelled against what is unashamedly its most multi-ethnic country, England.

WalesHome.org - The Romans In... England?

I'm starting to tire of this kind of crap from Wales:

Melding’s analysis starts by focusing on the history of the Welsh identity and its political manifestation. Beginning by examining the idea of Welshness under Roman and Norman political control in England, he concludes that the ascension of the Tudors to the English crown did far less for this country than the printing of the Bible in Welsh.

There wasn't an England when the Romans were in Britain.

There wasn't a Wales either.

It's really time that Wales was left to face a few realities.

Like survival alone or as an EU region.

Either way, Wales would be free of England, free of having England to blame for everything, right from the year dot, when England did not even exist (and Wales did not exist either!).

And those Welsh who fancied it could continue to indulge their racist ancient white tribe myth.

And we wouldn't have to put up with it.

Scots Are Not Celts...

Here's some bigoted twerp called Ben proving himself in a Telegraph comments thread:

How did English youth "learn" "hostile drinking" from "the Scots", Simon? Were there cells of subversive Celts hidden, mole-like, in every English pub, ready to spring into action as agents-provocateurs as eleven o'clock approached?

As usual, an interesting and sensitive article has been ruined by the inane bigotry of the Heffer-lump.

The pub is a glorious manifestation of Englishness; Hefferish bigotry is its disgusting and ludicrous dark side.

Celts? An ancient white tribe, surely? The Scots are all sorts, but not 'Celts'.

The UK "Celtic" ancient white tribe myth is the "disgusting and ludicrous side" to Scottish bigotry. And whilst we're at it, let's not forget Welsh and "Cornish" bigotry.

By all means defend the Scots, Ben, but the UK Celts are something else entirely - an exclusive romantic invention of recent centuries - based on a 1707 linguistic label from a Welsh Nationalist called Edward Lhuyd.

Lord Richard Of Ammanford And The Barnett Formula Lords Report - Is The Campaign For An English Parliament On Holiday?

From Wales Online:

Lord Richard, who led a review into the Assembly’s powers in 2003-04, is not a man to mince his words. Barnett has given Scotland and England more than they need and Wales and Northern Ireland too little.

Lord Richard of Ammanford may not be a man to "mince his words" - but he is a man to tell lies. Any clear headed, unbiased assessment of the Barnett Formula reveals that it is most unfair to England, indeed, its creator, Lord Joel Barnett, states that is so (here).

England gets the least and it shows.

That's why they have free NHS prescriptions for everybody, including the very rich, in Wales.

But where is the Campaign For An English Parliament's response to Lord Ammanford's statement? Have we missed something?

Lord Richard of Ammanford - Basically Says Fuck England!

Wales On-line picks up on odious New Labour toady Liam Byrne praising up the Barnett Formula (despite its creator, Lord Joel Barnett, saying its unfair to England). Wales On-line makes quite a fair fist of it, pointing out:

In 2007-08 the Government spent £7,535 per head in England, £8,577 in Wales and £9,179 in Scotland.

Liam Byrne declares the Formula "fair enough" - keep pocketing the dosh whilst you can, Liam, the gravy train's heading for the cliff - and then some English-hating racist, apparently CHAIRMAN of the Inquiry, blasts in:

Mr Byrne was challenged over his “fair enough” assessment by the inquiry chairman, Lord Richard of Ammanford, who said: “It doesn’t actually mean anything. Look at the difference between Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland – is that fair?”

So, this Lord Richard of Ammanford is CHAIRMAN of the Inquiry, but quite plainly doesn't give a shit about England? And why doesn't he mention England? Because it's not "pure" or so-called "Celtic" enough? And yet, despite not rating a mention from his Lordship, England is getting the worst deal of all!

Lord Richard of Ammanford is highly biased and certainly not committed to what's good for ALL - get him OFF!

Church Of England Out, Halal Meat In

Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. The smirk says it all.

Well, it looks like New Labour is about to bring an end to the centuries old link between the Church of England and the State. Smirking Welshman Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, is, of course, no fan of such an English institution and has been working from within to weaken it for years. Another traditional English institution moved off-stage. Mr Williams says: it would be “by no means the end of the world if the Establishment disappears”. And he's the Archbishop of Canterbury! Read more here.

There are of course, complex issues - more than I have time to go into here - but I cannot help feeling uneasy at this move, although I am not myself religious.

I suppose, thinking back to the Christian assemblies and teachings I had at school, I did and do derive some stability from them. And I was not uninfluenced by Christian teachings about how to treat my fellow ... er... person, etc.

Nowadays it's as though Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, etc, are all to be respected and recognised as such, whilst the traditional religion of England, Christianity, is bored down into almost nothingness.

But New Labour, of course, is committed to the destruction of England, whilst wittering on about multiculturalism, etc, and stating that one religion should not take precedent over another.

Is that why some state schools are removing pork from their menus and serving Halal meat, making the change it seems without consulting the parents?

I have nothing against Muslims, the Muslims I know are perfectly nice people.

But I do have a difficulty with State institutions like schools imposing what I and many others regard as inhumanely killed meat on our schoolchildren for the sole benefit of a minority religion.
Wonko reveals that Sikh parents are also unhappy - read it here.

The BBC: Radio 1 - Anti-English Hatred Prescribed At The Surgery

From "For England":

Channel hopping on the radio last night driving back from the cinema I stumbled across a show called “The Surgery” on BBC Radio 1 - ostensibly it’s an advice show for young people but last night it was in full blown British Brainwashing Corp propaganda mode. Where the topic of conversation was nationality and national identity.

Presented by Welsh chap called Aled who identified with being Welsh and a young lady and BBC careerist called Charlotte Aston who firstly described herself as English through and through but later denied her Englishness and identified herself as primarily British because her mates came from all over the “UK”.

This show stinks to high heaven - it is purest stinking anti-English racist bile!

I fired off an e-mail:

I was completely stunned at The Surgery piece on Englishness, Scottishness and Welshness yesterday. This came across as pure anti-English hatred.

Currently, the UK Government discriminates against every resident of England via the Barnett Formula and the lack of a dedicated national parliament for England is the reason that non-representative MPs can foist legislation onto England like top-up fees and foundation hospitals - both decided by MPs from outside of England whose own constituents will not be affected.

“Wow people just don’t say English do they? I’ve never noticed this before," said presenter Aled. “Is it that the Regions of England are stronger than the country as a whole?”

The only area of England allowed a referendum on regionalisation was the North East - which voted 78% against. And the people of England are force fed "Britishness" by the UK Government and the likes of the BBC. There is no chance of an inclusive, civic English identity being developed.

And yet people can die in England for want of medication available on the NHS in Scotland - where spending is so much higher. And prescriptions are free to everybody, including millionaires in Wales, but poor folk in England struggle to pay the rising costs here.

The largest, most cosmopolitan country of the so-called UK is demonised and its electorate treated as second class citizens by the UK Government and the BBC. Just who are the racists?

Regionalisation - the Balkanisation - of England is a beloved project of the BBC and the UK Government.

Did you know that around 75% of the legislation passed by Gordon Brown's Government does not affect his own constituents in Scotland - which has its own national parliament? Is this democracy?

Back to The Surgery: Charlotte Aston falsely stated that the Cross of St George had racist connotations! This is a myth. The flag of the odious BNP is the Union Flag, this is part of their logo, and ALL the other flags of the UK are also flown at their rallies.

Charlotte Aston, having disowned Englishness, basically seemed to be inciting hatred against anybody defining themselves as English and flying that country's flag - obviously "racist"!

A caller claimed that Scots are referred to as "British" at sporting events and the English as "English". Have you looked at the BBC's own on-line material regarding the Olympics? The absolute reverse is true! This is brainwashing.

The BBC itself has reported on anti-English attacks in Scotland and Wales in recent years, and programmes like these which scapegoat the English as racist and spread anti-English propaganda should not be happening.

The BBC is racist. And charges of racism can be brought against those vilifying any particular nationality. The BBC is anti-English.

The Corporation also fails to address the various inequalities that devolution has heaped on England. I would like to make this a formal complaint. And all replies will be published on-line.
Yours sincerely,

Chris Abbott (half Scots/half English with a dash of German and probably various other influences but every inch an English citizen!)

You can hear the show here for the next week and For England also has it in rough .mp3 format.

Anti-English bile? Regionalist propaganda? The BBC continues to excel. If you wish to write to The Surgery the e-mail address is:

thesurgery@bbc.co.uk

I'll keep you posted on any replies I get. And a big hat tip to For England!

BBC Wales: Dr Who Turns Anti-English - Update

OH NO! IT'S THE DALEKS! They're almost as bad as the English...

I noticed a few years ago that the revived Dr Who, made from the beginning by the BBC in London, was being made by BBC Wales - the main mover and shaker being one Russell T Davies. And now it seems anti-English bigotry is creeping in. Wonko writes on the CEP News Blog:

Tonight’s episode of Dr Who, broadcast on BBC1, had a scene which portrayed the English as racists, likening them to the Nazi’s.

The scene in question shows an Italian family being loaded into the back of a truck to be taken to a forced labour camp. The Italian man says “you know how it is, England for the English” and one of the other characters then made a reference to Nazi forced labour camps.

Dr Who is made by BBC Wales and the actor playing Dr Who is a Scot. Throughout the series and in previous series, they have been consistent in their use of “Britain” and “British”. I don’t recall hearing “England” or “English” used once in this series

I don't watch modern day telly, myself but I have heard of a recent Dr Who adventure featuring a certain Mr Saxon, who turned out to be a complete bastard. Was this, I wondered, based on the Welsh fantasy that they are Celts and the English are Anglo Saxons?

As it is, in my view, England is the most cosmopolitan and least racist of all the UK nations. Dr Who has been captured by the Little Waleans!

Read the CEP post here.

UPDATE: CEP Bucks visualises the scenario with the Dr Who production team at BBC Wales as they seek to tarnish the English image, even going so far as to misquote an old book title - which is what they appear to have done. "England For The English" should read "Britain For The British". But as with most Welsh and Scots anti-English racism, England is always specified if something negative is being inferred. They must leave themselves blameless.

Here's CEP Bucks:

I imagine a room somewhere in BBC Wales......

"how about "British Jobs for British People"?... No, that wouldn't work, the author is Scottish...OK, how about "Britain for the British"? It was the title of a book written in 1902 by a socialist and was adopted as a theme by the then fledgling Labour Party. It was also a popular theme for the National Front in the 1970s and is commonly used by the BNP today....No, that wouldn't work either, because it includes Scots and Welsh. We've got to think of a way to slag off the English whilst leaving the Welsh and the Scots squeaky clean....I know, how about we change the word "Britain" for "England" and then change "British" for "English"? So, it becomes "England for the English"! ...

Brilliant! That way we can liable the English and leave a subliminal message in the minds of the viewer...

Read it all here.

Too Poor To Be British...

The late comedian, Bob Hope:

"My parents were English. We were too poor to be British."

And in these days of the Barnett Formula, the West Lothian Question and non-representative MPs, to be English, meaning to be a resident of England, is to be a second rate UK citizen. You can DIE in England for want of medication available in Scotland on the NHS.

On 1 April 2007, Prescription Charges will be abolished in Wales. It doesn't matter if you are a multi-millionaire, you won't pay a penny. In England, on the same day, Prescription Charges will be raised. Oh, and by the way, England is subsidising better conditions in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland via the Barnett Formula.

It's as though the UK Government believes that you are inferior...

Isn't it funny how the English are blamed for...

The partitioning of Ireland - carried out under Welsh PM Lloyd George, with a Cabinet stuffed full of Scots!

The British Empire - Ireland and Wales were fully involved, and the Scots was proportionately more highly involved than the English!

British involvement in Iraq - sorry, but Tony Blair is of Scottish/Irish parentage, born and educated in Scotland.

Think of all the anti-English rantings you hear and read - look around you - the so-called "Celtic" elite are always accusing, always holding you to account for things that you as a modern-day resident of England had nothing to do with, always blaming the English for things that are actually their own fault.

England is always scapegoated, always expected to carry the guilt of Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

But awareness is spreading. Things are changing. England will have equality within the UK - or without it.

1 April 2007: Free Prescriptions For All In Wales - Prescription Charges Raised In England

Wales is heavily subsidised financially by England via the Barnett Formula. On 1st April 2007, prescription charges in Wales will be dropped. It doesn't matter if you're a millionaire. You won't pay a penny. In England, on the same day, prescription charges will be raised. This despite concerns from various health professionals and patient groups:

From the Daily Express:

Patient groups attacked the 20p increase, which will take the cost to £6.85 for each prescription.Ministers said the increase, which begins on April 1, would raise £425 million for the cash-strapped NHS.

But the move was criticised by Professor Jessica Corner, director of improving cancer services at Macmillan Cancer Support.

She said: “We are extremely disappointed to hear that the Government has decided to raise prescription charges in England, particularly as they are to be abolished entirely in Wales on the same day.

“Our research shows that one in seven cancer patients aged 55 and under who currently have to pay for prescriptions are unable to afford their cancer treatment.

“This news will be yet another blow to patients facing a double whammy of increased costs and a significant drop in income as a result of their cancer.”

This is health apartheid in action. And remember Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan punching the air and saying that at last the Welsh had made the English jealous? Because lives in Wales are valued more than those in England?

Morgan is a very sick man. I am not jealous - I am beside myself with rage at the RACIST INJUSTICE OF IT ALL.

More here - http://www.thecep.org.uk/news/Comments.asp?Entry=1504 - the CEP news blog article also contains a link to the original Daily Express article.

UPDATE...

Sue Campbell...

It's strange isn't it? People in England have unelected regional assemblies and no national representation, and people in Scotland and Wales have elected NATIONAL political bodies to represent them. What worries me most is that we now have a situation where people in Wales and Scotland are becoming an elite, far better treated than people in England on a whole range of issues. England needs representation as a UK nation, just like Scotland and Wales. The huge subsidies must be adjusted for a start. Lord Barnett, the man behind the Barnett Formula, has stated that it is unfair to England.

What is happening, with prescription fees, availability of cancer medications on the NHS, etc, is a form of racism levelled against every single living person in England. And yet as soon as you mention England, the politically correct crowd squawk "RACIST!"

Bad and batty logic.

And a very dubious UK Government - which has a massively disproportionate number of Scots and Welsh MPs, some of them unaccountable to the electorate in England, in its upper echelons. Are our rulers Little Scotlanders and Waleans?

Just think, when Gordon Brown is PM he won't be accountable to us. Nor will a lot of legislation passed by his government have any impact on his devolved constituents in Scotland.

That's 21st Century democracy, that is!

Wales: Free Prescriptions - Subsidised By England's Tax Payers... "We've Made The English Jealous!" Gloats Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan...

Read the "Daily Express" story here.

"We have never actually managed to make the English jealous before... but we have done it!"

Who said that and what about? Some proud Welsh or Scots sports fan, exclaiming over a run of good results? Er, no, actually - it was Rhodri Morgan, First Minister of the Welsh Assembly, having a crow about the fact that prescription charges are going to be free in Wales from 1st April, but not in England. See the BBC Online article
here.

The way that people in England are now second class citizens on a whole range of health and democratic matters is of great concern. Even more so because Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are heavily subsidised by tax money from England via the Barnett Formula.

The system is unjust, twisted, corrupt - creating a tiny and all-powerful elite in the UK. But "jealous"?! I personally don't feel jealous. I like Wales. Good fortune that comes its way is usually something I'd celebrate. But this is plain unfair. I know people in England who struggle to meet prescription charges but do not qualify for any help at all.

I feel outraged.

I worry about the voters of the UK, electing the likes of Blair, Brown, Prescott and Morgan. I worry about our Scots-born Prime Minister, and our Scots-born Prime Minister in waiting, both of whom see no need for parity for England in the devolution stakes. All have got a screw loose in my humble opinion.

Things will change. The people of England will not be ignored, ripped off and gloated over for much longer.

Alfie says it all
here.

UPDATE...

Muggleton writes...

I believe that Rhodri Morgan is unbalanced and his comments are evidence of some bizarre kind of hatred of people in England. The man should not be in politics. His attitude is rife, although not often displayed as overtly, amongst MPs from Scotland and Wales. This is why the Union must be ended. These people have been bred on anti-English lies for generations. We cannot trust them and cannot work with them.
