One of the last acts of Gordon Brown as chancellor was to sneakily cut the English NHS budget, and make sure that Scotland, his own country, which already has higher health spending than in England via the Barnett Formula, was not affected...
From The Financial Times:
Brown cut budget for English hospitals
By Chris Giles and Nicholas Timmins
Published: June 29
Gordon Brown quietly slashed by a third this year’s hospital building and equipment budget in one of his last acts as chancellor. Prompted by the tightness of the public finances, the new prime minister, who has placed the NHS as his “immediate priority”, cut the capital budget of the English NHS for 2007-08 from £6.2bn to £4.2bn. The move could delay the government’s hospital building and reconfiguration programme in England.
However, Mr Brown avoided equivalent cuts to the Scottish and Welsh NHS budgets even though the funding formula for the UK nations suggests they should have shared the pain. That decision leaves him open to criticism that he favoured patients in his home country.

And we all know that the first act of Gordon Brown as PM was to ensure that England had no chance of a national parliament by abolishing the country into tinpot regions, each with an attendent tinpot minister.
The UK Government is NOT an English Government. It does not act in the best interests of the electorate in England - in fact it wipes your country from the map and treats you as second class citizens. Whenever Gordon Brown talks of "nations of the UK" you know that he is referring to the nations of Scotland (his homeland), Wales and Northern Ireland. Whenever he refers to "regions" you know he is referring to the country he abolished, after absolutely no consultation with the electorate - the country once known as England.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Best Of British - It's Clean, It's Fresh, It's Brainwashing At Sainsbury's...
Have you noticed how much talk of "Britain" and "British" there is all of a sudden? Not just from the Scottish Raj and English quislings in the UK Parliament, but on TV and in magazines, even in Sainsbury's. Yep, Sainsbury's is doing a "Best of British" promotion which seems to consist of things formerly known as "English" being called "British" and things formerly known as "Scottish" being called... er... "Scottish"...
My sister and brother-in-law weren't taking it lying down when they visited a Sainsbury's branch on Friday. Over to them...
We’ve been greatly distressed by Gordon Brown’s actions in formally (and undemocratically) abolishing England into Statelets of the Scottish Empire.
On going to Sainsbury’s today, we saw “British” everywhere - a huge “Best Of British” promotion, including a large ad suspended from the ceiling for “British Strawberries”.
Having challenged Sainsbury's (and Tesco) on such issues before, we had no fear. We collared a manager, who explained that Sainsbury’s “lumps” England, Scotland and Wales in together as the “UK”, or “Britain”.
“So what’s this, then?!!” Quick as a flash, we whipped some Sainsbury’s Scottish salmon from the fridge.
The manager was very good: “Well, salmon is a great Scottish delicacy..”
We were better:
“Another great delicacy is ENGLISH strawberries.”
At the end of the day, the guy was simply towing the company line and actually seemed to be in agreement with us as we talked on.
But like most of the electorate in England, it seems he can’t be bothered to speak up when it matters. Apathetic was not the word. Is the government putting something in the water? It’s Caledonian water at Sainsbury’s, by the way. And Highland Spring. And French. But not English.

How England Came To Be Abolished By Gordon Brown...
Simon, a good mate of mine, has asked me to write a brief history of the regional story as far as I understand the subject. So, here goes...
As far as I can make out, "regions" in England go back as far as the Second World War when they were considered a useful concept. These were not the regional assemblies/development agencies we are currently concerned about. In the 1970s, Britain joined the Common Market and what we now know as the EU drew up a map of Britain - with Scotland and Wales intact and England broken up into separate regions.
The Tory Government set up regional offices - but these were not the regional assemblies we now know.
With the arrival of New Labour in 1997, devolution was rolled out. Scotland was granted a national parliament - the likes of Gordon Brown had signed a Scottish Claim of Right back in 1988. "Scotland is a proud, historic nation," proclaimed Scot Tony Blair. Wales was recognised as a nation for the first time ever with a national assembly. And work began on rolling out devolution to Northern Ireland.
In England, Welsh deputy Prime Minister John Prescott was keen that England should be broken up into regions as quickly as possible. The counties would disappear, and something very akin to the EU map of the early 1970s would take England's place on the UK map. EU maps began to appear omitting the name "England", replacing it with "regions of the European Union".
Whilst Scotland and Wales forged ahead with their nationally representative bodies, England fell behind. The Barnett Formula, a system created by Lord Joel Barnett in the late 1970s, continued to ensure that public spending in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales was much higher than in England.
MPs from Scotland overturned the votes of English MPs, ensuring that England got foundation hospitals and university top-up fees. Whilst Scotland got neither.
In 2004, a referendum was held in the North East of England, the area thought to be most open to the prospect of a regional assembly. 78% voted against it. This did not deter the regional agenda - it simply slowed it down a little. But the process continued with the regional assemblies New Labour had already put in place dictating to the electorate as unelected bodies.
The future for our ancient counties looked grim as New Labour regionalised our ambulance and fire services - again without consulting the electorate.
The argument for parity for England was ignored by New Labour. Wherever possible, England was referred to as "Britain" by MPs. One election slogan used by New Labour differed slightly across Britain: in Wales it went: "Wales, Forward Not Back"; in Scotland: "Scotland, Forward Not Back"; in England: "Britain, Forward Not Back".
Muddy the waters, confuse the electorate, that was the idea...
Concerns were raised that Gordon Brown, set to succeed Tony Blair as Prime Minister, had no mandate to govern England. He talked prettily of education, health and other things - all devolved areas in his own constituency in Scotland. This man would not be accountable to us on a whole range of central issues! And his constituents needn't give a toss because what he chose to do on the domestic front in England would not affect them at all.
Recent polls have shown that up to 67% of the electorate in England want a national English parliament to take care of their country, in line with Scotland.
However, arrogantly ignoring the wishes of the electorate, Brown's first action on succeeding Blair has been to formally dismantle England by appointing ministers for the artificial regions created by John Prescott. These regions will do nothing to answer England's needs. Health apartheid, the West Lothian Question and the Barnett Formula will all continue. And different areas of what was once England may soon be at each others' throats. Whilst the Scottish Raj in Westminster sits pretty. Divide and rule by the "UK" parliament. Non-accountable rule. A dictatorship. Scots imperialists aided by English quislings.
That, as I understand it, is the story so far...

Brown To Balkanise England - Campaign For An English Parliament News Release
29th June 2007
For release 30th June 2007
Brown to balkanise England
“We will not sit idly-by and see our country balkanised”
The new UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has signalled his intention to balkanise England.
Appointing Ministers for each “region” of England, Mr. Brown has shown that he wishes to revive regionalism in England - the idea of which many thought had been killed-off with the public’s strong rejection of a North East regional assembly in a referendum in 2004. Despite the severe lack of public support, Gordon Brown intends to press ahead with the regionalisation project which even John Prescott could see was dead and buried.
Gordon Brown signed the Scottish Claim of Right, acknowledging “the sovereign right of the Scottish people to determine the form of government best suited to their needs”. And yet he is content to deny this right to the people of England. Support for an English Parliament continues to grow, and yet Gordon Brown- unaccountable to a single English voter, will ignore this and instead impose unwanted and unpopular regions on England.
CEP Chairman, Scilla Cullen, said, “Where is our right to determine the form of government best suited to our needs, Mr Brown? The so-called English MPs that have become “regional ministers” should be treated with the contempt they so richly deserve.”
Ms. Cullen added, “We will not sit idly-by and see our country balkanised just because it suits the political career of an ambitious politician.”
CEP Vice Chairman, Tom Waterhouse, said, “Gordon Brown’s plans to balkanise England is not just undemocratic, it is outrageously arrogant and demonstrates his utter contempt for the people of England. You have no idea how angry people are about this.”

Gordon Brown Abolishes England
Wasting no time at all, no referendum, no consultation, no mandate, Gordon Brown has abolished England - broken it up into regions. So, each time you hear him utter "nations and regions" in future, you will know exactly what he is on about. The nations are Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regions are the nation formerly known as England.
And Gordon doesn't care what you think. Why should he? He isn't accountable to any voter in England, er, sorry, I mean the regions...

I'm staggered. So sudden. And not a word to us. Old Mr Democracy himself, Paul Linford, is spinning like a top about this: "At Last A Minister For The North!" and wittering on about conspiracy theorists worried about the "break up of the UK". Eh? What's all that about? The main people worried about the break-up of the UK are sycophants like Paul and the Scottish Raj.

In proclaiming the appointment of a "Minister for the North", Linford conveniently forgets that the North East voted 78% against being turned into a government region.

Gordon Brown: A Bad Day For England...
So, Gordon Brown becomes "our" Prime Minister today. A PM with no mandate to govern England and a PM who is totally unaccountable to the electorate in England.
BEN JAY, Bath
Goprdon Brown: "Of course devolution means that different choices can be made on issues that are reserved to the Scottish Parliament. But I believe the values that unite us as British people are stronger than any policy differences between the regions and nations of the country."

Paul Linford states that this will be the first true Labour PM he has experienced as an adult and that he was 16 when not very Sunny Jim was voted out in 1979. Well, I too was 16 in 1979 and I was expected to be an adult - and go out to work. As did most people around my way. Mr Linford, you were a lad then, you're a lad now. A middle class plastic socialist, full of crap. The fact that my family struggles with prescription charges and finding money to keep my daughter at university thanks to the Scottish Raj's discrimination, matters not a f*** to you. You are a sham, a disgrace. You don't give a damn about the poor in this country. Backing Brown's take over of No. 10 is clear evidence of that.
-

I do not agree with Paul Linford on many issues, although I too am an old Labour supporter. I certainly abhor his support of Brown's undemocratic march into Downing Street. But I will be publishing no further criticisms in this thread unless somebody comes up with something fresh and relevant. Come on, guys - what is this, the anti-Paul Linford League or something?!!
Gordon believes that people in England are second class citizens, that they must be treated as cash cows and denied the representatation and funding given to his own people in Scotland:
GORDON BROWN: "I think a system where MPs from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland were excluded from voting in the Commons would inevitably lead to the break-up of the Union so I will never support it." ( The Independent)
-
But justice and equality for the electorate in England DEMANDS that only MPs accountable to the English electorate should vote on English issues. More from the Independent article...
-
"How do you feel about the growing divisions between England and Scotland, such as in health treatments, higher education and long-term care for the elderly? Doesn't it make all this Britishness stuff rather absurd?"
BEN JAY, Bath
Goprdon Brown: "Of course devolution means that different choices can be made on issues that are reserved to the Scottish Parliament. But I believe the values that unite us as British people are stronger than any policy differences between the regions and nations of the country."
-
"Regions and nations of the country"? Firstly, Britain is a nation, not a country - it is a union of countries. Secondly, the term "regions" reveals yet again Gordon Brown's long term determination to break up England into regions, and deny its existence as a country in its own right - a right he fully backed for his own country, Scotland. His answer also ignores the differences in funding via the Barnett Formula, and refuses to address the West Lothian Question.
-
The "Union" is all about dictating to the electorate in England and denying its people rights, services and care available elsewhere. It's about taking money from the electorate in England to fund superior services elsewhere. It's about breaking England up into regions without consulting the electorate. It's about divide, rule and spin. It's about going blind in England for want of medication available on the NHS in Scotland, subsidised by English taxpayers via the Barnett Formula. It's about scrimping and saving for a prescription in England whilst they are free for millionaires in Wales, again subsidised by English taxpayers via the Barnett Formula
And Gordon Brown thinks that the "Union", which is not in truth a union at all, is more important than YOU. He thinks that it is more important than YOU having the same rights, care and representation as people in his own home nation of Scotland.
It's a bad day for democracy...

I note that Paul Linford is waxing lyrical about James Callaghan and shrieking "REJOICE! REJOICE!" about Brown taking over the PM-ship. Funny really. Paul was a little boy when Callaghan was in power and many of us who were old enough to vote, traditional Labour voters to boot, were rather disenchanted with him. Paul Linford also seems to think that democracy can go hang simply because he LIKES Gordon Brown. No mandate? Who cares because PAUL likes him!! What an ego! I always found Paul's "support" for an English Parliament suspect, now he's found out which way the land lies, his nose is so far up Brown's arse it's incredible. And it's only Day One.

You can't expect Paul Linford to be concerned. The guy is comfortably off and really has no social conscience. It's all words - health apartheid matters not a jot to him, nor the Barnett Formula or West Lothian Question. The joke is that Paul professes to admire pre-Blair Labour and so celebrates Brown's coronation whilst completely mising the point that it is the lowest placed in England who will suffer under Brown and his renewed wave of "nations and regions".

Campaign For An English Parliament Press Release
Wednesday 20th June 2007
Gordon Brown must drop his Claim
“How can Gordon Brown, who took this oath, become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom?”
When Gordon Brown was an ordinary Scottish MP he signed the declaration of the “Scottish Claim of Right”. This document was a public oath committing those who took it to put the interests of the people of Scotland before all other considerations.
Now Gordon Brown is to become Prime Minister for the whole of the United Kingdom, the Campaign for an English Parliament is calling on Gordon Brown to publicly declare that he will not put the interests of any one part of the United Kingdom above any other part of the United Kingdom.
The Claim of Right, signed by Gordon Brown in 1988, read:
We, gathered as the Scottish Constitutional Convention, do hereby acknowledge the sovereign right of the Scottish people to determine the form of Government best suited to their needs, and do hereby declare and pledge that in all our actions and deliberations their interests shall be paramount.
CEP Chairman, Scilla Cullen, said, “There is another nation within the UK- that of England. Will Gordon Brown extend to its people the right of self-determination that he espoused for his own nation when he signed the Scottish Claim of Right?”
CEP Vice Chairman, Tom Waterhouse, said, “The Claim of Right was a public oath, and those who took it pledged to put the interests of the Scottish people before all others. How can Gordon Brown, who took this oath, become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom? He must declare that he will put the interests of the whole of the UK before those of Scotland”.

Visions of Bradford - Anti-Fascist Fascist Rampant!
John over at the England Project has a Blogroach warning -
http://www.theenglandproject.net/wordpress/?p=540.
Heed it well.
The owner of the Visions of Bradford blog calls supporters of an English Parliament "BNP-lite" and generally acts like a first class anti-fascist fascist. You know the type. Avoids addressing issues of equality in England - health apartheid, the West Lothian Question, the Barnett Formula, etc., shrieks "petty racist!", "BNP!", "Too many politicians!" over and over again, basically has the all the debating skills of a stuffed newt, and generally cares not a jot about the democratic deficit in England.
And his own blog reveals disturbing racist leanings. At first, I thought it was a spoof. But now I think it's the mutterings of a diseased mind.
The blog owner has the gall to call me a "Closet BNPite". How dare he/she? I find the BNP quite abhorrent.
And another point: is this some kind of grandiose delusion? Does this person (who hides behind the nickname "Baht At") think he/she can read my mind?

Lisa Simpson - Twenty Years On...
It's twenty years since The Simpsons first appeared as cartoon shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show in America - http://80sactual.blogspot.com/2006/12/simpsons.html. Yes, TWENTY YEARS! The first full-length episode was shown in the USA in 1989.
Over here, some people are suggesting that the designers of the London 2012 Olympics logo may have had Lisa Simpson in mind.
Over here, some people are suggesting that the designers of the London 2012 Olympics logo may have had Lisa Simpson in mind.
I'm saying now't.
Britain Day and Health Apartheid
So, Ruth Kelly and Liam Bryne have stated that they are supportive of the idea of a "Britain Day", possibly a new bank holiday - aimed at bringing together communities in... er... Britain. Or will it simply be England? What was wrong with the suggestion of a national bank holiday for England - St George's Day? After all, Scotland is moving towards making St Andrew's Day a bank holiday?
We all know that, at the behest of the Scottish Raj, we now have a UK where you can be Scottish and British, Welsh and British or simply British. We know too that if you are simply British you will not be entitled to the same health care, democratic representation, public spending or esteem as those in Scotland and Wales.
We know too that Gordon Brown will be a completely unaccountable PM - elected in Scotland, his main power being in England. We know that all this "British" nonsense and refusal to encourage an inclusive civic English nationality is just so the "Celtic" Imperialists can continue to use and abuse England, muddying the waters as much as they can to achieve their aim, treating their own countries as elites.
It's not on.
"Our" Government is corrupt, self-serving, and doesn't give a stuff about democracy in England. Close your ears to the nonsense wittered by the likes of Ruth Kelly and Liam Byrne. They know full well what they are doing, and if you live in England that is certainly not trying to ensure that you have equality in the "UK".
Whatever your origins, colour or creed, sieze your right to be English and to live in a country where you are justly treated.
As Ruth Kelly and Liam Bryne spout their evil, self-serving waffle, children in England are to be denied medication available on the NHS in Scotland...
Around 10,000 people in the UK, mainly of black, Asian and Mediterranean origin, have sickle cell anaemia. Another 800 have the most dangerous form of thalassaemia, a similar disease. Sufferers of the two conditions must undergo regular blood transfusions. While the drug is available in Scotland, most patients in England are not able to get it because local NHS organisations are refusing to pay for a drug that costs £10,000-£15,000 for a year’s supply for a young person. Patients are enduring extra anguish as hospitals and local Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), which commission and pay for healthcare in England, row over who will foot the bill.
